......or that something published or spoken publicly is FAKE NEWS

Glad we agree.
Or that calling something "Fake News" just because you don't like it or it is uncomplimentary is a lie and.a.deliberate attempt to subvert the free flow of information.

Glad we agree.

Australia agreed to join the Coalition of the Willing on the basis that her special forces would fight, and others would "train, protect, support and persuade".
The People didn't want to invade Afghanistan at all...having seen what happened to Russia.
Didn't want to invade Iraq either.
But Alliances are alliances, one cannot pick and choose.

Then as seems usual...Aussie troops were called cowards etc.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=10512860

We're not cowards say Aussie troops

Australian infantry troops are ashamed and furious that they are being kept from combat and regarded as cowards by allied troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Army chief Lieutenant General Peter Leahy has confirmed that morale has been hit by operations that place special forces in combat roles but keep infantrymen in protection, support and policing roles.

In Afghanistan, where American, British and Canadian counterparts were aggressively used against the enemy, the restriction of Australian infantry to the protection of its reconstruction task force had drawn adverse comment and questions from the international media.

"The restrictions and policies enforced on infantrymen in Iraq have resulted in the widespread perception that our army is plagued by institutional cowardice."
The complaints were aired in the official Australian Army Journal by officers who questioned the future of foot soldiers kept at the rear despite world-class training and equipment.

"This is no longer infantry wearing red jackets and white cross-straps, taking on the army of another king.

"What we're seeing now is that we're required to work in different populations to protect, to support and persuade ... "

#####

Infantry not allowed into combat?
Why not?
Because bambu-ilk said NO!

"Our troops could be used as cannon-fodder, like in WW1 when they were made charge German machine guns in France and were slaughtered in their many thousands.
Landed at Gallipoli...lambs to the slaughter.
WW2...ordered to charge machine guns by demanding foreign commanders in PNG...more slaughter.
No more slaughter!"

WTF do you think "refugee densities" means, Bambi?

Those are the per capita figures.

Like I said, you are sooooo dense.

Provide support for your claim, if you would.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-12-21/fact-check-george-brandis-refugees-per-capita/9241276

"Australia, per capita, runs the most generous refugee and humanitarian migration program in the world," Senator Brandis said.

The verdict

Senator Brandis's claim is misleading.

Australia's "offshore" refugee and humanitarian resettlement program — that is, people facing persecution or violence elsewhere who are selected by the Government to come to Australia — is among the most generous in per capita terms, although it is currently not the most generous. That title goes to Canada.

That doesn't say second to Canada. It doesn't say where it is.

But I think what they mean by "most generous" is that they give the most money to those they take in.

You wrote, "Australia resettles more refugees via the UN per capita besides Canada than any other country."

That's wrong both ways. They are not second even in what Brandis was saying. But it is not what you are saying at all.

In state students whose family income is below $50k per year will pay no tuition or fees at University of Tennessee starting in Fall 2020.

I doubt they will be the last state to do it.

Ok. I was wrong.
I admit it, I made a mistake.
I'll be more careful and accurate with my language in future.

It is a generous program though.

If you're waiting for Australia to make it any more generous, and resettle more refugees per year...you could be waiting a long time.
Many people have had enough of the UN and its demands and complaints about our border controls, offshore detention and processing centres.

Glad we agree.

When did anyone say that anyone can't question the veracity of a news story??  Not the issue.  The issue has been the right to factcheck what any politician says, and if it proves to be a lie, call him on it.  Without fear of reprisals, slanderous attacks against the reporter, physical threats, or blocking access to a public press conference.

And, this should be obvious, if you accuse a news outlet of fake news, you must provide EVIDENCE if you want to be taken seriously.

Glad we agree.

This isn't about whether or not something is accurate.

The point made by anti-Trumpers is that even if the news IS fake, they have the FREE SPEECH and Trump has to deal with it.  They say Trump, by criticizing, is trying to shut down their rights to this speech.  Not so.  They can say it - and Trump can call it what he wants.

Same leeway must be given from both sides.  You dont lose the right to free speech when elected.

The next complaint will be that they arent enrolling enough in staters.

But yes, a good first step.

I believe most of the Ivies (among other privates) are already at this level.

Nope, we have courts of law for determining such matters.

Newspapers don't bring charges, the criminal justice system does.  Like, um, the southern district of NY.  Then newspapers report those legal actions.  Funny how Trump hasn't managed to sue any news outlets for this so-called fake news.  Why is that?  He threatens to sue, but then.... doesn't.  Odd, eh?

Could it be news outlets are just reporting matters of public record?  Hmmm.

If it’s not fake Kid won’t call it news. There are no republican policies without a noxious smokescreen of lies to obscure their badness. Honesty in government precludes Kid ever getting his way. He needs crooks like trump to lie to him and lie for him.
