I wondered how long in time it would be before 'Gallipoli' became a problem for Turkey, who was the enemy in WW1.

Seems that time is now.

I always wondered how come Aussie/NZ were/are allowed to honour their dead there, and have dawn services there... at all.

http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/deeply-offensive-pm-hits-out-at-turkish-president-over-gallipoli-comments/ar-BBUYUpE?li=AAgfYrC&OCID=AVRES000

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he will demand answers from the Turkish ambassador after the Turkish President invoked Gallipoli in connection with the Christchurch mosque massacres.

Turkish President has demanded that alleged Christchurch terrorist be executed.
'"the attempted invasion of Turkey in WW1 was anti-Islam oriented."

"The only reason - we're Muslim and they're Christian".

#####

Back we go to WW1.

Twitter was mean to me, so I'm suing the internet--Devin Nunes

When last we heard from the obseqious stooge congressman from California's 22nd congressional district, he was sniffing Donald Trump's undies while tipping off the White House on testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/19/us/politics/devin-nunes-twitter-lawsuit.html

Stung by obscene and pointed criticism, Representative Devin Nunes, a Republican from California, has sued Twitter and three users for defamation, claiming the users smeared him and the platform allowed it to happen because of a political agenda.

The complaint, which was filed in Henrico County Circuit Court in Virginia on Tuesday, seeks $250 million in damages. In making his case, Mr. Nunes, a loyal ally of President Trump and the former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, repeated several common Republican complaints that Twitter has repeatedly denied: that it censors Republicans, “shadow bans” their accounts and actively helps their opponents.

Gore just made the thing. The tax payers own it.

Also little Devin is not suing the internet. He’s making a spectacle of himself and all right wing snowflakes against Twitter.

Poor Devin picked the wrong line of work if he can't handle some pointed satirical criticisms of his behavior.

Thankfully with voters wrenching the House from the gutless Republican cowards, Devin has been rendered into irrelevancy.

This one will bear repeat posting, I think:

Of course there is a pattern.

Like there was a pattern with Charles Bronson and NYC police.

Trump is anti-Islamic extremist.  No apologies.  Take the other side if you wish.

But Kiiid, President Trump insists that there is no connection between him and the terrorists.

And he insists that he does not inspire violence and that White Supremacy is not a rising threat.

Yeah..... saw that.

Trump more concerned that the other party is getting free air time.  Doesn't wish it to be criminalized - but regulated.  Wants the election commission to get involved.

Yes, he is concerned the other party is getting free air time.

He is not concerned about when he and/or his party is getting free air time.

He may or may not want it to be criminalized - depends on what they have said about him this time. There is a reason he asked the DoJ to look into SNL, after all, Kiiid! It is not just the FEC.

He's been anti-free speech for decades. Nothing has changed since the ABA free speech group labeled him a Libel Bully.

Trump more concerned that the other party is getting free air time.

You mean like he does?  Yeah, that really should be "regulated."  Just report what the President and Republican leaders say.  The Democrats can take out ads in the papers.

Point is that it isn't about free speech.

How is it not?

Yeah..... saw that.

Trump more concerned that the other party is getting free air time.  Doesn't wish it to be criminalized - but regulated.  Wants the election commission to get involved.

How does one define "free air time" or otherwise political advertising being "given" to a political party?
An editorial in the New York Times?
A Washington Post reporting on the "President's" Russia ties that he calls "fake news?"
That absurd segment I saw on FOX "News" this morning accusing Elizabeth Warren of wanting to abolish the Constitution?

I didn't get an answer to the question I asked yesterday on this subject, and I don't expect to get one now.  But the slippery slope here is obvious.

And even if one were to define a SNL parody of the President as political advertising, the Supreme Court (in a ruling that Conservatives applauded) has already spoken on the Government's ability to regulate it.

To be clear, calling political satire "free air time" for a party is absurd on its face.  I play along here, for a second, in an attempt to demonstrate why that is.

I in no way expect kiidcarter8 to understand.

Again.......

my comments were to show that Trump's position has little to do with suppressing free speech.  That is all.

I have no idea if he will get anywhere with it.

Glad to hear you are arguing that it is only a little bit suppression of free speech, but you still haven't explained how SNL satire is, in your view, only a "little" protected.

I am not arguing at all.

There is a difference between "I am not arguing at all" and "I am not arguing at all well." You are in the latter category, not the former.

Toby Keith? What, no Ted Nugent lyrics? I’m disappointed in you, you hardly human excuse for a shit stain.

Reported for moderation

Entertainingly, that is not the post you reported.

This is:
9/11...when 'Muslims' hijacked planes in the United States of America and flew them into towers, killing thousands of innocent people...some having to jump from the towers or be burnt to death...others trapped in their offices unable to get out; and knowing their fate said goodbye to their loved ones forever by telephone...and little kiddies still at kindergarten/daycare well after 'closing time' as their parent/s were dead.
And as New York City was burning, Americans were driving vehicles with signs on them that read 'NUKE EM'...is that "Extremist right-wing views"?

Since then, how many Iraqis and Afghanis are dead at our hands? A ton more than the number of Americans killed on 9/11.

A mighty sucker punch came flyin' in from somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the fourth of July

Hey Uncle Sam, put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty started shakin' her fist
And the eagle will fly man, it's gonna be hell
When you hear mother freedom start ringin' her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you courtesy of the red white and blue

Justice will be served and the battle will rage
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
And you'll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way

--------

'The Angry American' - by Toby Keith

If you don't believe me, I will give you a screenshot of the report.

They are going after the 1A through the courts. Don’t forget Sandmann’s suit against the Post.

They probably figure they can lose their way to a win when they hit The Right circuit bench or SCOTUS.
