When I lived in Battle Mountain, I was a cook at The Colt Inn and Casino. I was a cook there for two years, and I used a letter of recommendation from the Colt to help me to get into the AADA, I used them as a character reference.

Our head chef was a retired chef from Beverly Hills, California, and our food was great. We had a really good menu. We even had buffalo steaks, which are fantastic. We also had beautiful waitresses and hostesses. And the hotel even had rooms with your own private jacuzzi bathtub in your room. You could eat a buffalo steak, then play the slot machines, and then drink champagne in the jacuzzi.
My grandmother worked for the gold mines, as an assayer, she made a lot of money. They paid her very well.
For the big city, you could go to Las Vegas which is still pretty wide open and cheap, and Vegas has plenty of water and electricity thanks to the Hoover Dam, etc.
