It's not how hard you work.

It's how wealthy your familiy is.
Check out the story of Airbnb.
For starters.

Ward, people win the lottery. We know that. It's not news. But if hard work were all it took, there would be many more billionaires than there are. The evidence is in. It has been in for at least 80 years, when the first study I know of illustrated the fact that the best predictor of educational attainment was father's income. Not his or mom's education level. Not the kids' or parents' intelligence. Not where they lived or how many siblings they had. Income.

There have been changes since then, with the lower percentage of nuclear families as one of the factors. But the role of SES in educational attainment is stronger than ever, whether you like it or not.
Ok.
Don’t check out Airbnb.

It doesn't require "checking out," Ward. It's been very much in the public eye.
Obviously your eyes don't work.

Weak sauce, sister.
That you are.  AIRBNB is not a rags to riches story, a tale of inherited wealth,  or connected in any way to winning a lottery.
It is a multi billion dollar business built by the persistence of a couple of college grads who turned turned unused spaces into
a worldwide chain of rentable rooms in 81,000+ cites.

Yeah, and?
You jumped into a discussion you did not understand.

Migrant children have heartbeats too?
Of course they do.

Trouble is, ...not every child and adult in Mexico, Central America, Africa, South America, Middle East, North Asia, Sth Asia, SE Asia etc can be moved into USA to live.
It simply can't happen.
There have to be limits.
America takes in the number it can afford.
The rest?...it's a cruel, cruel world out there. People born on garbage dumps, live on garbage dumps their whole lives, fossick for food there, sleep there, maybe raise kids there as well.

The down and out, the homeless [imagine being homeless in the snow and then the dirty, icy slush full of cigarette butts and litter], poor who don't know where their next meal is coming from...in America have heartbeats too.

The United States government took children from legal asylum applicant, transported them, and intentionally did not track where they were taken or to whom they were given, to prevent their being returned to their families.

Which, if true, was totally the wrong thing to do.

Nothing goes over your head. Your reaction time is too fast.

(AKA: yes, it is a lottery story.)

Actually no.  Trump wants (better) facilities funded and built but Congress will not approve

Now.

But it was not what he started with and it is not an excuse for his ordering children stolen from their parents.

Which you are still not prepared to deal with.

Coming from "or connected in any way to winning a lottery" Ward, that is a hilarious statement.

You seldom understand discussions you are in, especially those with metaphors in them.

It’s the same discussion... you say something  you think is sage yet cryptic, josh responds in paragraphs, you do the “I know something so you should figure out my angle” thing. You get called on it and you pull out some smug bullshit to prove your point and... Swing and a Miss!

Yep, a few college grads who couldn’t afford their rent had a good idea and worked it. They saw a niche market and they filled it.

Yeah, everyone should do that.

Mythology

The mass of ordinary Germans did know about the evolving terror of Hitler's Holocaust, according to a new research study. They knew concentration camps were full of Jewish people who were stigmatised as sub-human and race-defilers. They knew that these, like other groups and minorities, were being killed out of hand.

They knew that Adolf Hitler had repeatedly forecast the extermination of every Jew on German soil. They knew these details because they had read about them. They knew because the camps and the measures which led up to them had been prominently and proudly reported step by step in thousands of officially-inspired German media articles and posters according to the study, which is due to be published simultaneously in Britain and the US early next month and which was described as ground-breaking by Oxford University Press yesterday and already hailed by other historians.

The reports, in newspapers and magazines all over the country were phases in a public process of "desensitisation" which worked all too well, culminating in the killing of 6m Jews, says Robert Gellately. His book, Backing Hitler, is based on the first systematic analysis by a historian of surviving German newspaper and magazine archives since 1933, the year Hitler became chancellor. The survey took hundreds of hours and yielded dozens of folders of photocopies, many of them from the 24 main newspapers and magazines of the period.

Inovation and hard work.

A sick twisted reactionary real estate system catering to money launderers and tax cheats makes AirBNB possible, putting some money in the pockets of those with excess property and crowding out renters. AirBNB’s value as a company is dependent on conditions that drive people to or keep people in homelessness.
