Besides being a Democrat and not Trump, what's the case for Biden?

All I can come up with is that he was Obama's buddy and isn't as radical as many of the other Dems running.  Is it solely electability (more or less name recognition, at this point)?

But what is the affirmative case for Biden and what he would do?

He can win. There's the case. In a nutshell.

That's the case, but I think it is dead wrong.

His comments about (and ongoing pride in) his work with the segregationists will lose him too many progressives and too many Black and Hispanic voters to be able to beat Trump - but I think it will also preclude his getting the nomination.

You should get out more. Talk to real people, instead of the fellow ivory tower cellmates. Nobody wants Ms. Warren, but the left. The left doesn't win. The center wins.. The center holds.. you have to think about the whole country, Joshie, not just the folks down at the village Green.

Piggy, your opinions of my life continue to be of zero merit.

Your logic about Biden is similarly askew.

And your discussion of Warren is duly noted, but totally moot to what I am saying about Biden - raised presumably because you had nothing to say about Biden at all, let alone in regard to what I wrote.

In other words, you are full of crap and should go buy a clue.

You left out, "nanny, nanny, poo-poo", you friggin' wimp.

Nanny, nanny, poo-poo, you friggin' wimp!

Way to support your pointless point, Piggy. Thank you for tacitly granting that what I said was true.

Desperate Booker, Warren, and DeBlahzeeoh! Go after Joe. Why? Because he was able to work with the opposition.

https://www.npr.org/2019/06/19/734103488/democrats-blast-biden-for-recalling-civil-relationship-with-segregationists

Hmmmm. Maybe, just maybe, that's how you get things done, dummies!

Poor Joe. Too old. Too dumb. Too secict. Too white. Not woke!

And leading all the polls.

"Kick 'em, when they're up, kick 'em, when they're down...we love dirty laundry."

What do you expect to get done in the Senate?

McConnell doesn’t give a shit about anything but the acquisition and accumulation of power. He is nakedly partisan and would the country to the ground before giving any Democrat anything.

If you go by the polls from this time in 2007 the 2008 election would have been between Hillary and Rudy...

Joe Biden is like a favorite cardigan; comfortable, familiar but a bit thread worn and if you wear it everyday it’s gonna fray and come apart.

Joe will be fine... for a while.

And Booker is a fucking idiot. Reparations? Talk about perpetuating victimhood.

Fuck you and your bullshit victimhood. The only hood in here is on your pointy little head.

Save your fuck yous for your commute, dipshit.

So Utley fell off the wagon... again.

No one does victimhood better than white people. That’s what Trump ran on.

Conservative historian John Lukacs makes clear how different the nationalist formula is from patriotism properly so called: it rests not on a sense of pride in place or background but in an intense sense of victimization.
The cry of the genuine patriot is “Leave us alone to be the people we have always been.”The populist nationalist cries, “We have been cheated of our birthright, and the Leader will give it back.”

Lukacs —- 2005 “Democracy And Populism: Fear and Hatred”

What's sad is that Pigday never tries making a calm argument for reparations as perpetuating victimhood - I saw some guy make such an argument on the PBS Newshour a couple days ago.  I wasn't persuaded by said argument, but at least could say I was listening to a sane and reasonably calm person make their points.

As a young African-American, he felt that the harm of slavery didn't affect him directly and so didn't want to feel like he was being paid off for whatever happened to great-great grandparents.   His position was that, this far downstream, the money would be unearned.   My principal quibble is that, if a person honestly felt that way, they could refuse it or pass it along to a charity or struggling school district etc.  And those who actually are struggling in a cycle of poverty can accept it and make good use of it.

I guess I don't believe that everyone who gets government assistance sits around dwelling on their victimhood.   Most are just trying to pay rent and grocery bills and take care of their kids and find a future where they can afford a house and college and time to catch their breath.   Figures show those who succeed leave the poverty cycle, as do their descendants.

Pretty much every place I've lived in the USA turns into a sloppy mess during an El Nino cycle.

"Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."

Sound familiar, Democratic Party?

Here's a song that captures a very good argument against reparations.

Demanding reparations is asking to be seen perpetually as a black slave, when in fact you've been born into a world of opportunity.

Worse, you're asking to be treated equally (look past the color of my skin!), while claiming special status ( you owe me because of what was done to my peeps in the past because of the color of their skin!).

 Doesn't work.

 Illogical.

Utley, are you crazy? You want me to make a case for reparations to YOU or shut the fuck up?

This coming  from the fool who swears the 6/2/1865 “Battle of Memphis” was more pivotal than than the D-Day Normandy Invasion.

Have all the seats you racist asshole.

And don’t go hinting about some “incident” that makes me “unemployable.”

You got something to say? Take your shot.

I get you don't want to talk about it. There's no D-Day w/o the Battle of Memphis victory.

The racist here is you.

Same MO as Trump.
We proved that when you complained about all the white folks moving into your neighborhood

You can't make a case, which is why you'd rather attack and label instead of meet the challenge.

I complained about white folks moving into my “up and coming” neighborhood which has been relatively stable for seventy years (two of my neighbors are 99 and 98 respectively and my wife grew up here ) because developers are trying to get Building code variances in order to add another floor to existing stock which are two story semi detached houses.

I’ve been through this before in Columbia Heights where parking sucked so bad I use to budget $90 a month for parking tickets.
May not sound like a big deal but adding that many extra rooms in one location is akin to establishing a motel in the middle of block. Parking will suck here too. Air BnB yo.

What’s really cool is I’ve watched several kids grow from middle schoolers to college and now a new crew of little kids are running around. Young families mixing in with us geezers. We don’t need an Air BnB packed with drunken frat boys barfing in the streets at all hours. That’s what happened over in Kingman Park.

Now we have to establish Capitol View as a Historic Neighborhood which is actually easier Done than Said. It’s just paperwork and petitions and our white neighbors are on board because they are invested in their neighborhood.

Damn, man. The resentment runs deep.

What happened? Your woman get long dicked and left home?

Explain why DDAY wouldn’t have happened if not for Memphis? We’ve been through this before but all you ever come up with is the butterfly effect.
