Yup - I've seen projected maps where 60+ percent of FL is submerged late in the century.   Relevant to that is another story I wanted to pass along here....

It's a hot issue in North Carolina. Last fall, Gov. Roy Cooper declared that the state would try to reduce its greenhouse emissions by 40% by 2025, compared 2005 levels.

The state can do this most quickly and easily at power plants, replacing coal and gas with wind and solar power. So energy experts now are trying to hammer out a plan for how to do it. The goal is controversial, but the debate isn't nearly as partisan as it used to be. That's mainly because wind and solar power have become much cheaper.

They've won over state legislator John Szoka. "I would describe myself as a conservative Republican who has come to believe in renewable energy based on the economic facts behind it," he says.

You can believe in renewable energy and not set such extreme goals.

If you believe in climatology, you won’t set such incrementalist goals. You’d do more to address the crisis head on.

Birtherism is reborn!  Guess which candidate is the lucky target?  Hint: rhymes with "Pamela Ferris."

Red got a tax cut...
Heh….yeah, but how far does $24 go? Red needs to make some contacts…..Maybe he could arrange to star in one of those TV commercials that Republithugs put out in the past to try and get the tax measure passed (the kind where a ‘fictional’ couple are talking about the $2000 tax break they are about to get)….only in Red’s commercial he and his wife go into a supermarket to spend their tax break money and they are able to purchase one steak…..each.

Josh,

Just a few bad apples NO ONE in the PD tried to get off the job.

https://billypenn.com/2019/06/07/those-philly-police-with-offensive-facebook-posts-some-have-a-long-history-of-complaints/

right.

Or even to dissuade in the middle of the attempt to frame somebody.

They will not protect the public from their "bad apple" colleagues, which makes them bad apples, too, which is the point those opposed to my insisting that we have a police problem refuse to understand.

COMPLICIT is the term that applies. Aiding and abetting in the more standard police jargon.

You can believe in a climate crisis and not do much to head it off. "Yeah, there's a crisis, but you know, it's hard work to make that big a change, so we'll make a smaller one, even though that won't solve the problem. It's easier."

WELCOME, North Korea!
It looks as if yesterday was the unofficial (Official) welcome of North Korea into the World Nuclear Club. From here on out I think you’re going to hear less and less about a nuclear-free Korean peninsula and more and more how the U.S. will be cutting back or eliminating sanctions on N.K. (as Trumpy and his minions continue to try to pretend that the U.S. is getting something out of this). And of course the whole thing was handled in the usual Trump ham-handed manner…..Trump looked like an over-stuffed used car salesman (a role for which his hair style was perfect), trying to interest a reluctant Lil’ Kim into buying the ’89 Buick as he glad-handed and back-patted him around the lot.
But, looked at from a certain point of view this whole thing was a win-win-win for all of the principals. Kim gets everything he could of ever wanted (and all he has to do is to continue writing sappy letters to Trump—an odious burden, no doubt). Trump gets to continue to pretend that he has a coherent foreign policy, and some sort of skill as a negotiator (which of course he doesn’t have a trace of), while the rest of us here in the U.S. can finally stop pretending that we give a fuck about anything that happens in a shit-hole like North Korea.

Trump is setting up somewhere for his family to flee to once he is drummed out of office. NK seems to be the only taker.

No, no, not a racist, but 23&Me taught him the importance of precise DNA analysis.

It took a court order to get CPB and the Trump administration to let the doctors in! Think about that.

But for all that I would like to place the blame at Trump's feet - and he does exacerbate everything, this is a problem that CPB has had for TWENTY TWO YEARS!

https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/30/us/child-migrant-detention-center-doctors-federal-judge/index.html?fbclid=IwAR02CsPMSqhOXDBrvMLgYz9Ydlw3YgN3f28_wZIwLq3QTyak0rRu8H88VVY

Federal judge: Let doctors into child migrant detention centers, quickly

Quote
"Children are held for weeks in deplorable conditions, without access to soap, clean water, showers, clean clothing, toilets, toothbrushes, adequate nutrition or adequate sleep. The children, including infants and expectant mothers, are dirty, cold, hungry and sleep-deprived," the court filing said.

Gee, who sits on the federal bench for the central district of California, made the ruling Friday, despite Attorney General William Barr and other defendants' request that the court "set a schedule for briefing these issues that provides defendants with a full and fair opportunity to respond to the allegations that plaintiffs have lodged against them."
