I appreciate the "president's" statement stating the obvious, that these attacks are white supremacist domestic terror, and that federal agencies should be given all the resources they need to combat it. Whoever wrote this speech and then convinced the "president" to deliver it somewhere between his taking wedding selfies and golfing at his club this weekend did a nice job.
But his comments regarding the "dark recesses of the internet" inspiring this hate are so laughably off-base when anyone watching Fox News or listening to mainstream Republican politicians including this very "President" get all the inspiration they need. Thousands of Facebook ads from Trump use the word "invasion" to describe immigration on the southern border. The shooter quoted Trump and Fox News in his manifesto!
Trump's entire reelection strategy is based around divisive fear mongering and racism deployed to rev up his base. Maybe he will now abandon this strategy after he now acknowledges how this rhetoric (from others) endangers people's lives. But there isn't anything in a speech that also pointed the finger at video games that makes us think that he will.
