So our "president" is enlisting a foreign government to participate in his slandering of minority members of the US Congress...

He is?

Are you sure?

Yes.  Keep up with the news when posting on a political discussion forum, please.  Thanks.

Someone said it, so it's true, eh?
There's that lack of a sense of irony again. Katica!!!!!!

From the ACLU

Hi Tony –

Last week, we saw heartbreaking scenes of children crying, all alone after ICE snatched away their parents in immigration raids at Mississippi factories. Those raids are happening everywhere, from workplaces to neighborhoods to everyday transportation – like your regular Greyhound bus.

For over a year now, tens of thousands of ACLU supporters have been fighting to stop Greyhound from letting Border Patrol board its buses. Greyhound has refused to comply, so now it's time to have a word with the manager.

Greyhound's complicity in the Trump deportation machine is a clear violation of the code of ethics of its parent company, FirstGroup plc. Let's raise our voices and demand that FirstGroup direct Greyhound to comply with its code of ethics and stop throwing customers under the bus.

As a private business, Greyhound has a Fourth Amendment right to deny Border Patrol permission to board and search its buses without probable cause or warrant (unless the bus passes through a CBP checkpoint). By allowing Border Patrol to target passengers, the company is fueling Trump's deportation machine.

Border Patrol agents draw conclusions about passengers' immigration status based on the color of their skin and the sound of their voice. This is racial profiling. It's harassment. It's an inhumane and unnecessary business practice. And it's a clear violation of FirstGroup's stated values.

Sign the petition to FirstGroup plc: Stop Greyhound from throwing customers under the bus.

If we stay in this fight and keep up our momentum, then we can stop Greyhound from being a part of this government's all-out assault on the rights of immigrants – on the rights of all of us.

Thanks for taking action,

Sylvia Ruiz
Deputy Director of the ACLU Immigrant Justice Campaign

------------

When I was a limousine driver in Malibu, I was instructed not to allow anyone to search the limo without a warrant. The police are not allowed to search a limousine, and it is the same for buses. ICE agents are not allowed to search the buses without a warrant.

And even worse, they pick out the brown people who speak Spanish.

This must not be allowed.

We need the ACLU now more than ever.

Salute,

Tony V.

No matter whom the Democrats nominate for president, the message and policies of The Squad will make up the heart of the nominee's platform. This is a disaster for the Democrats and a gift to the GOP, which is fighting to reassure educated suburban voters to stick with them. Sure, they may not love Trump's behavior or rhetoric on some issues, but they'll take a good economy and secure border over socialism, higher taxes and open borders any day.

I always love to see GOP analysis that pretends the 2018 vote never happened.  Please!  Continue to ignore it.

I suppose maybe the point here is that Republicans should misrepresent the positions of their opponents on healthcare and immigration in order to win elections, but I’m pretty sure they tried that in 2018 too.
Also have to laugh at this notion that anchoring a Democratic candidate to the extreme left of their party is a consideration that is unique to that side of the aisle.

The “president” and head of your party has a roughly 42% approval rating despite that “good economy,”

Its not being reported as a good economy

And voters polled arent being totally honest, as you know.

WASHINGTON—American shoppers gave the U.S. economy a solid boost in July, a counter to weakness in the manufactur-ing sector and Wall Street jitters about faltering growth.
Retail sales, a measure of purchases at stores, restaurants and online, climbed a seasonally adjusted 0.7% in July from a month earlier, the Commerce Department said Thursday.

Tax cuts, job and wage increases, as always, combine to boost the economy.

Lol.
For some reason, Red.ignored all of the "Consumer spending hides significant downturn in manufacturing during the first seven months of 2019" articles.

Lol.

Tax cuts, especially for the wealthy, give parasites an avenue to steal from the economy, negating job and wage increases resulting from a coherent national policy and strengthening the safety net. They can get away with it for a while if the follow a progressive administration with a legacy of strong growth, but inevitably they crash the economy by stealing what they were entrusted to manage. It took Bush a lot longer than it’s taking trump to reach the crash.

In the sense that boost is synonymous with steal, Red is saying something that at least inadvertently aligns with facts.

Red is, as always, writing from the perspective of a parasite, a bitter, bigoted, parasite. It’s why he’s adjusted so naturally to being a Russian stooge.

Consumption also tends to rise when a trade war is looming.  An effect of consumers anticipating a steep rise in the cost of some durable goods.   The classic "cleaning the supermarket shelves before a big storm" effect.

Its not being reported as a good economy

LOL.  It’s all the fault of the fake news media, right?

First, you are wrong.  Second, the entire reason the economy plays such an outsize roll in a President’s popularity is that it has the largest effect on how people live.  That doesn’t mean they turn on CNN to find out what the latest unemployment figures, it means they know whether they, and their friends, and their family, are employed.  Whether they got a raise this year.  If the stores on main street are closing, or are full of shoppers.  No one watches Marketwatch or whatever, sees that the share of GDP from manufacturing is up and therefore Trump is their man.  They do know if the factory is closing or hiring.

And voters polled arent being totally honest, as you know.

I know that some people won't admit that they are a Trump supporter in public, see it here from you just about every day.  But the idea that this effects polling has been debunked.

And if you are arguing that the “president’s” positions are not so extreme as to be unpopular, you might need to ask yourself why you are saying there is a social stigma against admitting you support him.

Explained it in '16.  Explains it now

Explained it in ’18?  An election the GOP lost badly because they were anchored to extreme Trump positions on immigration and healthcare.

And, as you know, polling at the national level (like the approval rating we are discussing) got it right in '16.  Polling before the election that showed Clinton winning the national vote by 2%-4% accounting for margin of error ended up being right on.

It has been reported everywhere as a good economy. Honestly reported, which means pointing out the characteristic "greatest ever" Trumpian claims are bull shit and pointing out signs of.potential weakness, as now.

Pollsters are fully aware of and account for.the Bradley effect. That is why all the major polls in 2016 had Clinton's popular vote win within the margin of error.

I don’t give a damn who these ‘Never Trumpers’ say they would vote for!

All these little Igors trying to duck responsibility for building this Frankenstein’s monster can just shut the hell up. Why would anyone listen to ANYTHING they have to say?

Especially this gutless wonder.

Average poll Clinton vs Trump had the election finishing (using margin of error) anywhere between Trump by 2.8 and Clinton by NINE POINT TWO.

NBC News (Clinton +7) had it OUTSIDE the margin of error - in favor of Clinton.

Yes, please believe the current polls
