Disdain for Bibi’s fascist regime is not equivalent to anti-semitism or anti-Israel sentiment.

If you take misinterpretation of the more fictional portions of the Bible as history, like republicans do, you are libel to make that mistake.

funny stuff

I agree with the guy who just tweeted

"Rep Tlaib obviously hates Israel more then she loves her grandmother"

Nu? What else would you say?

Bigot.
Josh.
Democracy is not a suicide pact.
Have you had a look at U.S. exclusion law lately?
Our statutes authorize barring the entry of aliens who are reasonably believed to be planning to violate our law; are likely to engage in activities that unlawfully oppose or seek the overthrow of our government; are members of a political or social group that endorses or espouses terrorist activity; and whose activities could have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the U.S.

Israel does, too.

Rashida Tlaib has extensive history of associating with Muslim Brotherhood-connected groups that promote terrorism and seek Israel’s annihilation. She has tweeted an endorsement of Omar Suleiman, a fundamentalist Texas-based imam who promotes the universal imposition of sharia law and has written glowingly of Palestinian intifadas – terrorist campaigns against Israel (“God willing on this blessed night as the 3rd Intifada begins, the beginning of the end of Zionism is here. May Allah help us overcome this monster, protect the innocent of the world, and accept the murdered as martyrs”).

Israel is the freest country in its part of the world. Its ethnic Arabic citizens have more liberty and due process than they could hope to enjoy in sharia societies. It has its own alliance of leftists and Islamists that engages in robust dissent against the incumbent government. Its assurance of free expression guarantees that no argument Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib could make would be kept from Israelis and Palestinians who care to hear it.

Yet Israel was willing to let an avowed foe of its existence conditional entrance to visit an ailing relative.

She declined because she is an anti-Semite and bigot and did not get the platform she desired to spew her hatred of Jews.

As someone like you who rails against bigotry, constantly, please get your facts straight.

(a) Setting aside everything you wrote, for a moment, nothing you said has anything to do with what I said. Kid's a bigot. So are you. No news there.
Ah. In other words you reject the facts and stick to your bigotry.
No news there.

Take it up with Ward, who raised the issue.

The Israeli government announced Thursday it would not allow Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota to enter their borders for a planned trip into Palestinian territory, citing the two lawmakers’ support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS)
movement. Under Israeli law, anyone who supports the boycott of Israel may be banned from the country.
Political parties that oppose BDS include the Liberal Party of Australia and BOTH major political parties in the United States.A common reason given for opposing BDS is that it attacks Israel's legitimacy and fosters antisemitism.

Show me where this so-called "avowed foe of its existence" has ever called for Israel's destruction. I can show you where she said some anti-semitic stuff. I can also show where she apologized for it, and not with a mealy-mouthed "oh, we just called them wetbacks where I grew up, I meant nothing by it" fake apology as we hear repeatedly from GOP officials caught in their bigotry and prejudice.

Yup.

A common reason given in opposition to BDS. Not something she said. Something others have decided that what she did has the effect of doing - you know, like we tell you that Trump's speeches and attitude foster racism and violence.

Oh, right - you deny that he does that, by saying nothing about it. Kid denies it by denying it.

But no, BDS is short-sighted and hypocritical, but it is not, in and of itself, anti-semitic. Lots of motivations are attributed to Tlaib based on that one fact, but they don't align with what other things she says and has done. This is in contrast with President Trump whose racist rhetoric aligns with his racist actions.

But no, BDS is short-sighted and hypocritical

Why?
It's one of the few ways to exert pressure upon Israel, when it has the US firmly in its corner, and so can defy international law and UN resolutions with impunity.  Israel isn't interested in any two-state solution, keeps allowing its citizens to take over occupied land (in violation of intl law), and now talks openly about annexing significant parts of the West Bank (with the blessing of Trump's Ambassador to Israel).  50 years of  violating international law and oppressing a stateless people deserves a response.

Boycotts, sanctions and economic blockades can be powerful tools.  Just look at the way Israel starves millions of Gazans, or the pain Iran is experiencing due to economic sanctions Israel full-throatedly supports.  The BDS movement is much milder than either of those economic punitive regimes Israel backs.  So just where is the hypocrisy?

As others have said here, being critical of a nation's oppressor role doesn't make you anti-Semitic.  And that weird assertion of anti-Semitism is all the weirder given that many Jewish people of conscience are also opposed to the oppression and unlawful annexation.   Also weird is equating Israeli with Jewish, when 25% of that nation's populace is not Jewish.  People who are offended when someone calls America "a Christian nation" sometimes are oddly unoffended when Israel is called a Jewish nation.
If the former is a false characterization (we're not a theocracy), then so is the latter.
