I don't know why everyone has to take everything to extremes.  -    Exactly, like those ANTIFUCKS - no need for them at all

Quite right!  People demonstrating against fascism and corruption and racism, who needs that kind of noise?

Nothing at all wrong with "some noise"

When the Proud Boys, a racist hate group, decide to march in a city that is meant to specifically provoke antifa our "president" threatens only antifa, and Proud Boys take his tweet and say "the President is with us."

Yet just a week after El Paso, and with three more white dudes arrested for planning mass shootings, you support that approach.

Amazing.

I'm pretty sure Israel works in all sorts of ways to prevent its enemies from getting nukes.

Israel lobbied hard to kill the Iran deal (for purely economic and regional power balance concerns) and got their wish with Trump.

As a result, Iran is at this very moment closer to developing a nuclear weapon than it was just two years ago.

Watching the rightwing freak out over the NYTimes 1619 Project.....
Just who is “ freaking out”?
History is History.
But a better question might be how come inner city blacks, 400 years later, are still enslaved by democrat -run municipal governments that provide them with substandard living conditions and dysfunctional public schools?
Nice dodge.

And amusing attempt at exculpating a party and a political philosophy that for the last 50 years has treated inner cities and the African American community with at best malign neglect and at worst outright hostility.
Nice fiction.

If Republicans were so concerned with the lives of "inner city blacks" you would think they would also be concerned with the resulting reduction of their electoral power inherent in their push for Voter IDs and redistricting.  Even if you were to believe those effects are peripheral and not the very point of those policies.

Curiously, they are not.

Your thinking that voting rights is irrelevant to a discussion of why "inner city blacks" are stuck with "municipal governments that provide them with substandard living conditions and dysfunctional public schools" then you don't understand what a Democracy is.

Which actually explains a lot.

Catching up on the good news.

A three-judge U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has ruled unanimously that the inclusion of a Latin cross on the county seal in Pennsylvania does not violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The decision handed down Thursday overturns an earlier ruling in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania made by District Judge Edward G. Smith.
The seal has been in use for more than "70 years without complaint — and no evidence suggests this was “due to a climate of intimidation," the judges noted in their decision.

The decision was undoubtedly influenced by SCOTUS’ ruling this year allowing the famed Bladensburg, Maryland Cross to remain on public land and signals the mothballing of the infamous
“ Lemon Test” constructed by a previous US Supreme Court

As someone who violently opposes Christ’s teachings, you have an awfully odd fetish for his symbols. Are you saving up for an indulgence? No one told you the practice of buying your way to heaven despite a depraved existence on earth is no longer part of any church? You’ll be judged by your works, you abhorrent sinner. Repent, repent repent!

(opening paragraphs excerpted for those with paywall issues)

The organization representing the nation’s most powerful chief executives is rewriting how it views the purpose of a corporation, updating its decades-old endorsement of the theory that shareholders’ interests should come above all else.

The new statement, released Monday by the Business Roundtable, suggests balancing the needs of a company’s various constituencies and comes at a time of widening income inequality, rising expectations from the public for corporate behavior and proposals from Democratic lawmakers that aim to revamp or even restructure American capitalism.

“Americans deserve an economy that allows each person to succeed through hard work and creativity and to lead a life of meaning and dignity,” reads the statement from the organization, which is chaired by JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.

The group says its members “share a fundamental commitment to all of our stakeholders,” and commit to doing well by their customers, employees, suppliers and local communities. “Each of our stakeholders is essential,” the group adds. “We commit to deliver value to all of them, for the future success of our companies, our communities and our country.”

The new statement includes 181 signatures of the 192 current members of the Business Roundtable, which represents many of the biggest companies in the United States. While the statement represents at the very least a symbolic change in the group’s thinking, it was not clear how companies would change their practices in light of the new commitments, nor how any changes in behavior would be assessed or monitored.

Whatever the specifics that are eventually attached to this statement (if that ever happens) it is at least an acknowledgment that the shareholder/short-term focus of corporate governance contributes to income inequality and hurts our ability to respond to environmental and climate challenges.

Its the kind of thing that if it came from Warren (and it has) it would be called socialist regulation of capitalism by the GOP (and it has) but will be either ignored or met with some head nodding when it comes from actual CEOs.

Anyway, whoever it comes from its Sanity...prevailing.
