Thanks bart-I stand corrected. You are the Elba expert on global warming, climate change and goatfucks.  :)

Thanks, Banks.  Yeah, goats have those dreamy eyes.   Not an expert on the climate change,  but I know where to find the experts.

Desertification of the Amazon, eh, biology teacher?

Sure, man.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/fires-could-turn-amazon-rainforest-into-a-desert-as-human-activity-and-climate-change-threaten-lungs-9259741.html

There are hundreds of papers that detail why rainforest ecosystems are vulnerable in this way, but that should get you started.  If your mind is open to learning.

It relates to how biomass-dense forests create clouds through daily transpiration, and then a regular cycle of precipitation is maintained.  In the tropics, disrupting this cycle can lead to desertification.   It's not something that's a matter of much debate in the scientific world.   The expansion of the Sahara into the Sahel is a recent example of the process.

I see what happens to Josh now.  You think there's some remote chance that facts and evidence might influence someone's thinking on a topic.   But, really, it's hopeless.

Maybe when Christmas comes around you can ask Santa to smack some fucking sense into you.

Change your reading, watching and listening habits.

You are about two feet tall and shrinking by the day.

Nothing can help you if you won’t help yourself.

Funny how Trump was killed for criticizing Cali during their fire crisis.  For allowing - through poor planning maintenance - it to be as bad as it was.

Now, in the Amazon?  Critics do abound.

I don't know if the fires in Brazil constitute a wise way to manage the Brazilian rain forest, nor to my knowledge does any one in Elba.

I'm a biologist, with some training in ecosystem and wildlife management.  Rainforests are not of the type that is managed well by fire.  Fire, in such an ecosystem, leaves a soil that becomes nutrient-poor and heavily leached within a couple of crop cycles and can never recover its original biomass density and ability to sequester carbon.   A longterm resulting shift to open savannah often leads to desertification within the tropics.

IOW, a total goatfuck.
And is not happening in Brazil.
But, what about Bolivia?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation_of_the_Amazon_rainforest

Check out the nearly 70 references provided in the article.  The loss of 20% of the 1970 cover is well documented.  You are a thoroughly dishonest cunt.
Your snark only reinforces your ignorance.

Many of the fires appear to have been set in order to clear land in already deforested areas, as the ground is prepared for farmers’ crops or livestock. Such fires can spread, but if illegal  Brazil should stop it and punish the perpetrators. Why wouldn’t it?
Brazil is a democracy and responsive to criticism.

Those wise folks know where their bread is buttered...in Washington no matter who occupies the Oval Office.
In reality, who else will save them if not America?

Coming from you, that's pretty funny.

Yankguy says protection with some risk is not a good thing.

You've got it backwards, Kids, according to the numbers.

We say "risk, with some protection, is not a good thing."

The deaths from guns in the home are a greater risk than the savings from home invaders.

PUTZ

Oh, look! Mr. "I'm polite" has found something worth name-calling about to him!

And what did he choose? Another of those areas with those pesky facts that bother him so much from time to time. (Like each time facts are used to the next time they are used.)

SCHMUCK

Hey, I can type Yiddish insults, too. Who knew?

Man lives through his best friend's wife and 2 daughters  being brutally raped, then burned alive in their own house

2 months later the man gets a gun for protection in HIS home for him and his loved ones.

Josh says, "you're an idiot - that gun will get you family members hurt or killed"

PUTZ.

Kid decides that what one man does speaks to society as a whole and therefore I should only respond to the single family's situation - and insults me as if I told the family that rather than a discussion on a message board in which Bambi-ignorance is trying to make that situation into a generalization.

No 1 radio host:

"The fires in the Amazon aren't even at the normal level that occur there.
All the attacks just designed to destabilise the right wing President."

His brain is fried.

Because all fires are the same, Kid.

And all government intervention the same, too.

Still a schmuck.
