You are free to think he isn't a Hall of Famer ... but that doesnt make him overrated.

Eli has had a very distinguished Ny Giants career.   Might be top 5 most loved of all time NYG.

Canton or not, we like him.

If people think he should be in the Hall of Fame, then those people are overrating him.

Not suggesting he is not beloved or that he didn't have a distinguished career.

I don't know.....  NFL, like Pro Basketball HOF -is a bit funny. If looking at who is in is one way of determining IF you get in, well..........

If you just want to do the IS HE or ISNT HE approach by having watched him, fine - think what you like of the 3rd Manning.  Eli isn't a guy that WOWS anyone.......but winners often don't.

heh

that's a persuasive helluva case for Eli.

I think watching him play is a start to determining Eli's HoF-worthiness.

How did he compare to his peers?

And IMO if you bother to check the stats you'll find he pretty much defines maybe slightly above average (top 10-12ish/top 1/3).

is HoF case rests on 2 good SB 4th qtrs  and longevity.

I like Opie too.

And so does Andy, Barney and Aunt Bea.

But they don't think he's a HoF QB either.

Otis does though.

You can like Eli without putting the Gold Jacket on him.

Now there is the argument that the 2 SBs victories (and who they beat)  are enough to get him in.

I think that would be the strongest platform he has to stand on.

Beating the best team of all time.

Everyone likes Opie.

That's not really a point of contention.

He's likeable, earnest, and honest as the day is long.

Although you might want to double-check the game used #10 jersey hanging in the rec room.

Not really even  a discussion on whether Eli will be enshrined.  Has the stats, the unsurpassed durability and the rings.

I think comping QBs from vastly different eras is apples and oranges.

IMO and entirely off the top of my head, Griese was a better QB in his era than Eli is in his.

Yeah, but you've got a very small head.

Troll-you really suck at formulating and supporting arguments so you resort to childish insults.

you're pathetic

Maybe so, but I've got your number, pinhead.

The word is CLUTCH: The Giants entered the playoffs as the #5-seed.[121] On January 6, 2008, in the Wild Card Round, Manning went 20-of-27 for 185 yards playing on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The underdog Giants won 24–14, and Manning had two touchdown passes.[122]

On January 13, 2008, in the Divisional Round Manning led the Giants to an upset victory over the heavily favored Dallas Cowboys, the number one seed in the NFC.[123] For the third straight game, Manning played well, completing 12 of 18 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.[123] The Giants were the first team to beat an NFC number one seed in the Divisional Round since the start of the 12-team format in 1990.[124] This victory secured an NFC Championship berth against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, January 20, 2008. In the NFC Championship, the Giants beat the Packers in overtime, with a score of 23–20.[125] The dramatic victory secured Manning and the Giants a trip to Super Bowl XLII.[126] This was the first Super Bowl appearance for the New York Giants since Super Bowl XXXV in 2001,[127] and their first Super Bowl victory since Super Bowl XXV.

....Trailing 14-10 with 2:42 remaining, Manning led the Giants 83 yards on a game-winning touchdown drive. On a crucial third-and-5 at the Giants' 44-yard line, Manning connected with David Tyree on a play in which he avoided several near-sacks and Tyree caught the ball off his helmet for a large gain. Four plays later, Plaxico Burress caught a 13-yard touchdown pass with just 35 seconds remaining for the winning margin.[130] Manning became only the second quarterback in NFL history to throw two go-ahead fourth-quarter touchdowns in a Super Bowl (Joe Montana being the first).[131] Manning also became the first quarterback to throw a last-minute, championship-winning touchdown in the NFL title game (including the pre-Super Bowl era) when a field goal would not at least tie the game.[132] Following the Giants' monumental victory, Manning and the coaching staff spoke briefly with President George W. Bush.[133]

Manning was named the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLII.[134] He and his brother Peyton are the only brother combination to play at quarterback in the Super Bowl and the only set of brothers to win Super Bowl MVP, doing so in successive years....

Wikipedia.

CLUTCH. TWO TIME MVP. Durable. Winner. HOFer.

Pat's fans jealous, because they know with Eli instead of Brady, they'd be undefeated in all those other Super Bowls.

And because of your depravity and insecurity I've changed my #s.

You have nothing.

SSDD

And to suggest that Pat fans are jealous of Eli is beyond laughable.

The troll is the biggest homer on this board and is probably incapable of understanding how fucking inane is homerism is.

Let's see "Opie" not only made TB12 cry after beating him twice in the Super Bowl, he also has  won two Academy Awards, four Emmys, a Grammy, two Golden Globes, and has been nominated for 7 BAFTA Awards. He additionally received the National Medal of Arts in 2003 as well as two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions.

Sounds like a HOFer to me.

Eli probably benefits from the lack of any compelling other QB for the Jetropolitans or the Giants since Ken O'Brien and Philly Simms.

That's probably true. And to extend it, the lack of pro-sports star-power and championships in the NYC metro other than the Yankees for the better part of this century, has created a celebrity vacuum that Eli with 2 rings sort of inherited, despite non-superstar performance.

For whatever reasons fans need heroes.

Celebrity vacuum? Ha! It's New York! We don't need know stinking celebrities! The city itself is a celebrity. Unlike that razed set of hills they used to fill in the swamp around Boston Habba!

My feelings exactly. I'll hold door for the douchebag.

Only time will tell. Make sure you come back and apologize, if you're wrong. After all, you have all that experience putting NFL teams together and evaluating players.

No problem, I'll admit to being wrong. Done it lots of times when I am. Something I don't think I've ever seen you do old sock.
