I think Tua's NFL potential is vastly overrated, but Lawrence is the real deal.

I guess we'll find out. Injury-prone, happy feet and short-arms throws. But I don't know things like you do.

Using your big-boy words to explain your opinion would be helpful rather than trying to bluff your way through with snarky bullshit.

Kid you're totally transparent.

Kid took pains last year to tell us he didn't watch much college football, but he knows things anyway.

Jones
« Reply #1084 on: May 07, 2019, 01:25:06 AM »

--this is all second hand "insider" info i took from a giants board FWIW--

Denver had Jones rated higher than Lock and would have taken him if he was available in the first round*.

Denver is not head over heels in love with Lock, they think he has potential, but they see his warts. They took him in the 2nd round as there was too much value there not to take him.

The rumors out there on the Redskins was accurate, there was a split in Redskins camp on Jones vs Haskins with Snyder wanting Haskins and the rest wanting Jones. Snyder would have won out if both were available.  Jay Gruden and several Redskins scouts loved Daniel and were banging the table for him but were over ruled by Snyder in favor of Haskins.

Bengals ( pick 11 ) also had interest in Jones.

---

*Fact:
Denver eventually traded down from 10 AFTER the Giants took Jones at 6.

With all this in the ether  DG would be crazy to wait til 17.

Gettleman!!!

Good picks. Love was a steal. The Baker pick while costing a draft pick gets a first rounder ergo and extra year before he says bye bye(If he does) Had Collins been a first rounder he'd still be with us for another season.

Want to know which one was a bad one?

If he turns out to be a bad pick that DG made at 6, then he'd be a bad pick at 17 too.

But if he's good, no one will care that we took him with 6.

Just imagine DG drafted Lawrence with the 6 and Jones with the 17. You'll sleep better.

Actually I was taking Allen at 6 and an OL at 17. Jones probably would have still been there for our 2nd rounder. Or trade back into the first and get him like we did baker. Although I'd rather have Baker. But like I've said, I hope I'm wrong about the kid. Been wrong before bro.

I just don't think he lasts to 37.   Its a gamble and why would you gamble if you like the guy to be your franchise QB?

Taking him at six is also a gamble. Time will tell if it was the right gamble. As a Giants fan I'm hoping I'm not just wrong, but waaaaay wrong.

Why is it a gamble?  He is your property now for 5 years if you like - has value now in deal and you still nabbed 2 excellent young players to go with others you are building with long term.

They're also gambling that Allen is a bust or just a 'good' player. If he busts out to star status and Jones is merely mediocre then you gambled wrong.

Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott and Jalen Ramsey are great talents

That doesnt mean Jared Goff was a poor pick for the Rams.

I'm not sure why the concept of possibly over-valuing and overpaying for a guy ranked 40th to 80th by most experts, but who was picked 6th in the draft, and of the opportunity cost of doing so, is such a difficiult concept for some to understand.

QB is always called the most important position and toughest to fill adequately.  And there are QB-hungry teams every year.   So yes, a guy ranked 40th in a 32 team league, at the QB position, will likely get drafted way higher than a draft board based on talent rather than team-need would have him.

They got their man.  Was it the right man? Time will tell.  But i don't think Allen's play will weigh on Jones just like nobody with the Giants cares we let Philip Rivers and Shawn Merriman go for Eli.

Not if you have your QB and continue to build it properly.

If there is a position in the modern NFL game that rivals the QB in importance it is edge rusher. Possibly you aren't understanding what I'm saying. My opinion, and point for that matter, is dependent on Jones "not" being a star.

But it's no secret I covet and value defense in the game of football and my opinion is a bit jaded in that respect I readily admit this.

You should love the Odell deal then

Funny..... hearing Jones may not even be the first Giants rookie QB to hit the field

Funny 2 -  Lindy's Pro Football Draft issue -

Ratings

Haskins - 8.2
Jones - 8.0
Murray - 7.8
