Eli was never a top-rated QB against his peers. He was a middle of the pack guy.

Top top?  Maybe not - and no shame there

Top 50 player 3 times - in 8 seasons of the award - last at age 35

Again I will pose the question, if Tyree doesn't snare that wounded duck in SB 42 is there even a conversation?

what's the question?

Eli threw that pass.

Eli put Giants in that position.

Didnt Tommy Boy have a chance to prevent that?

Were Giants a better team that year?  Were Patriots injured?  Brain cramped?  How about cheated?

Kid Please don't compare Brady and Eli, it just magnifies your idiocy, which while it approaches the infinite and is statitically irrleevant, is of concern.

The question was if the refs didn't take a coffee break as Eli was about to get sacked by Seymour, and launched his wounded duck that an all-pro Harrison should have defended better, but was nonthelss snared by Tyree, would anyone in their right mind even consider Eli a HoF QB?

Just heard that Barkely has a high ankle sprain, the same injury that had Brady had in the '07 AFCCG, and that Barkely will be out around 4-6 weeks.

Only the top-top players make the HoF.

He was never an All-pro QB in his career,

Eli has generally been a middle of the pack (AVERAGE) QB for 15 years.

How many Hof QBs do you think have played over the past 15 years?

Correct.

Manning should have been sacked five times on that play.  His evasion of the pressure was remarkable.  As was his quick decision to get the ball to Tyree once he scrambled to some open space.  Tyree was open but well covered, and Eli put the ball high, where it needed to be for it to not be broken up.

The fact that it was caught with the helmet, not sure what that has to do with Eli.  You might ask if a better receiver would have made the catch itself less remarkable.  Doesn’t say anything about Eli’s efforts to get it there.

Hall of famer?  I don’t know. Can’t imagine a less interesting debate.

heh

its so uninteresting a subject, but one that NFL fans have discussed for years, that a poster who never posts in this forum, decides his fanboy homerism must be expressed.

I was curious to see any discussion of Jones, who had a pretty nice debut yesterday.

Then I read a poster making a misinformed argument, and thought I would correct it.

I read your praise of Eli's mobility and scrambling ability, a trait that he has practically trademarked.

That was some pretty funny Onion-worthy stuff.

thanks for the laugh.

Jones? A nice 2nd half, and nice win, and gives G-Men fans hope and a reason to watch CBS Sunday at 1pm.

The entire 2007 game, in case you forgot how well Manning played.

Check the escape and the accuracy on the Tyree play.

Ypu're a complete and utter MORON if you don't give Manning his due for that drive.

Thanks for proving my point about Eli.

The case "for" ignores 99% of his body of work and focuses on an improbable win in SB42.

And if not for Tyree's helmet catch...

and kid the game was 7-3 Pats at the end of the 3rd qtr.

It was a defensive struggle.

To put forth that Eli had anything but a pedestrian game, but with a 4th qtr comeback, would be a misleading argument.
