What?  Maybe you should just re-read it.

I re-read your answer of no several times.

Your reasons are still not apparent.

Your answer "no" could be answered from either side of a trade, the Pats or Giants and for different reasons.

I asked your reasons for your 1-word answer of "no" to Kam's proposed swap asked presumably with a Patriot's fan perspective.

Is it not enough for the Giants, too much for the Pats, or what are you saying no to and why?

Gettleman had heard about the Duke wonderkid as a transformational player and the #1 pick.

He thinks he drafted Zion.

NGlFL draft starts tonight! Can't wait to see who the Browns take at 17!

In his defense, if you see your quarterback of the future you take him, regardless. You do not say, get him at 17. My problem is, there is nothing in any of what I have seen to make him better than, say, Tannehill or some other middling but not awful QB, and in many ways that is the worst kind of QB to have.

I think the general feeling is that Jones was a huge stretch at #6.

17? Supposedly he was a consideration if he got to #32 for the Pats.

I thought the Giants were going Josh Allen at 6.

I would not have taken him in the first round, unless I had a QB like Brady or Rodgers.  Sit him a year or two and if he did not work out quietly boot him to the curb. Otherwise, he is "your guy" and you stick with him, and if he is mediocre, you don't improve the position until you have wasted 5 years of your team.

Giants didnt like the OSU kid

Giants had Jones rated substantially ahead of the other options

Giants were concerned a team drafting later than 17 would trade up for Jones if thye passed at 6

Giants options therefore were:

1 - Take Jones at 6
2 - Trade up after making the pick at 6, maybe to 10 as Steelers did - then take Jones there
3 - ROLL THE DICE that you may lose your guy Jones, end up with a second defender at 17, worst case.  Maybe then look at Rosen (who you may not rate highly) or deal up to LATE 1 and take a lesser QB like Grier.

Option 1 was OK by me.  Jones starts in 2021-22.

Your reasoning is correct. It is the player I disagree with. And remember, I thought the Browns spit the bit last year with Mayfield so I clearly know what I am talking about.

With the qualifier that I no squat about most college football players, I'm generally happy with the Pats approach through round 3.

they addressed my sense of their need (edge guy, WR, CB) and I think they got some talented players to get younger.

IMO They still could use a TE and maybe another WR, and at some point have to address the QB question, but all in all, I think so far they've done a good job.

Stridham is a good gamble. He went from a potential Heisman and top pick at.the start of the year to the fourth round.

I had Greedy Williams as a potential pick when we held 17. Got him 30 picks later.
