Morning ESPN guys figuring Newton to Steelers on a 2 year deal would be wise - as a takeover for a year guy for Ben.  Figuring cost would be a good value - citing Case Keenum and Browns at 6 mil per - and how good that is looking.

Not keeping Baker becoming a possibility - goes the reasoning - as money can be kept to pay other key guys whose deals are up.
That is fucking stupid. Keenum is being paid 6 mil for exactly the opposite reason. The Browns are spending more money on the QB position because analytics views it as vital to the team success to have a quality backup  because if you do not that one injury alone.can sink your team. Keenum is being paid to do precisely what he did Thursday: provide acceptable play for a few games when the starter goes down. They do not view him as anything more. Did whatever idiot said that watch the game Thursday? The Browns won on running the ball and short passing. How long do you think that is going to be winning in the NFL? How long before the inability to take the top off pushes the safeties up and smothers both the running game and the short game?

The Browns may well wind up moving on from Baker, but not now and sure the Hell not for Keenum.

Good trade.

Newton was the better move.  Not sure if he'd have signed.

You should just propose to him, already.

Surprised you're not upset they didn't go get Kaepernick.

If he can still play even as well as Cam, I would be surprised.

Their opinion is that a game manager like Keenum - given the rest of their roster - with re-signs that would not be possible if Baker stays - can win - yes.

The 13-3 Vikings of 2017 went away from Keenum (11-3 as a starter) and have been rewarded by the big money Kirk Cousins, who has gone 28-24 since then.

How.dix Keenum do the next year? How about Nick Foles after the Super Bowl? Back ups, even quality backups, are backups for a reason.  Before you commit your team to one you better make damn sure you know what that reason is. The Browns have a ton of experience with inadequate QBs, and elevated back ups.

A running game does not work if the defense does not respect the deep ball. Mayfield may not be the answer, but the answer is not "get cheap on the QB position." When is the last time a team won a Super Bowl with a budget game manager QB playing the majority of the year? The 2000 Ravens? Give me that defense and, yeah, maybe.

We will never know how a 2018 Keenum would have fared with Vikings

The defenders of the move away from Keenum state how he couldnt beat a Philly team that Brady ended up dicing

Well, sure - OK....

And that he is an inch or 2 shorter than Cousins.

KO Pool

wk 1 SF
wk 2 CLV

Week 3 Denver

KO Pool

Week 4 Buffalo

Week 5 Minn.

Week 6 Indy

Week 7 narrowed it down to Cards or Pats, leaning Cards, but there may be no better week to use the Pats, got some new found free time so I may do some next level coin flipping this week.

1 game under in my ATS pool, but that puts me in 3rd place, 1 game behind the 2-co-leaders @ 47-46

EDIT KO POOL WEEK 7 Arizona

week 8-Cincy or LA Rams leaning Cincy

WEEK 8- Cinn
