I've seen some of his interviews, he comes across as very likeable IMO.

Sadly it is now known Haskins had a drinking problem

Did the Steelers know?

Did the league know?

Who did know- and refused to act?

Nothing in that news story says anything about a drinking problem, rather than a single night of excess. He may have had a problem, but we don't know about it at this time. OTOH, the place he was drinking had best be looking over their shoulder.

"we respectfully request and pray for privacy, for patience, and for the public to withhold any judgment during this period" doesn't seem to mean anything to you.

Any bets on whether he will actually be a good announcer?!

According to who?

How does one define "good announcer"? Got a rubric for that one, josh?

While I am quite sure that this is a subjective area, there are still some basics.

Having a command of the game is useful. Willingness to call it as it is. Ability to listen. Ability to admit to being wrong.

Not constantly taking the team's side in a dispute.

Disagree with those?

Have any of your own?

https://theathletic.com/3343045/2022/06/01/tom-brady-nflpa-sales

Tom Brady tops the NFLPA-connected earnings list.

Okay, that's a gross understatement. Tom Brady's take was more than numbers 2 through 4 combined.

And it was less than 20% of his off-field football-related earnings of $52 million.

As the article points out, post-Patriots he has turned on his off-field earning potential.

https://www.audacy.com/weei/sports/patriots/cam-newton-admits-he-didnt-fully-grasp-patriots-offense

Cam Newton admits what everybody else already knew - he did not get the Patriots' offence.

He thinks there are not 32 QBs better than he is.

He is very imaginative.

No, definitely not Jerry Remy.

I neglected to include "alive" in my description.

Love it.  We may see much more of this moving forward as unaffiliated pro baseball teams grow in number.

Watson has settled 20 of the 24 civil suits against him, which should at least clear the way for the NFL to suspend him. I suspect it is a year. Serves us right.
