Watching mrs bambu trying to drink the colonoscopy prep stuff, I decided that was nearly a fate worse than death.
I have no money to pay specialists, we had to basically beg mrs bambu's specialist to "bulk bill" (bill the govt 100%, he accepting less than he would if we had to pay his usual fee.)
Because she has diabetes he was able to operate on her "immediately" in a public hospital, and he accepted the govt Medicare rebate as full payment.
There is about a 12 month waiting list in public hospitals...and you usually can't have the doctor of your choice
We had to give up/stop paying private health insurance, too expensive, unaffordable.
We're not the only ones.
I just spent our last $10 at the supermarket.
No more credit available, no savings, well a total of about $2 of cents in several bank accounts. Credit cards debt. Got credit left at the vet for our lovely dog.
Life insurance policies payments keep increasing as you get closer to 85.
Die after 85 you get nothing.
Ideally I will die before 85 so mrs bambu can collect the insurance money and live happily and comfortably.

Moral of my story is to make sure you go into retirement with no debt and plenty of cash in the bank, and somewhere to live that you own. An apartment, or house/cabin/etc where you own the land.
Reportedly, investors are buying the land, or already own the land that some mobile homes, prefab homes are on and are increasing the rents, causing some owners of the homes financial stress.

One experienced van life older man has just bought some cheap land in *remote* America...but still within close proximity to a town.
I'd call the land 'desert'.
Somehere to park his van permanently, have a fixed/postal etc address.
He has built a largish carport type structure out ot timber and tarps.
Shelter from the sun and rain.
Fixed BBQ to use as a kitchen, sleeps in the van, uses solar panels for power.
The main thing is he owns it.

Your nurse needs to up the Thorazine in your vegemite. You are blowing a gasket, mate. You leak foolishness at an alarming rate.

Are you calling retired British army general Barrish foolish?
He might have a baby face, but there's nothing infantile is his words of warning.

What on earth has the UK been doing...obviously living in a paradise of complacency.

If Russia can do that to Britain, think what China could do to Australia.

Think what Russia could do to every country in Europe that has no shield, likely most of them.

Britain is supposed to have nukes, but are they old and maybe out of date.
Does it have nuke powered and nuke armed subs, more than one or two.

If it does, it should warn the People of Russia that if their missiles start landing in Britain, then Russia will cease to exist.
Where's Trump, he will maybe tell them.

Daily Mail;

Putin could pound UK with missiles he's using to blitz Ukraine

The retired British Army officer estimated that an attack would involve Russia firing over the missiles in waves of 60 to 90 at a time. Speaking to The Sun, General Barrons (Pictured) warned that the UK would currently be unable to fend off such an onslaught. He said: 'The UK does not have the air and missile defence that Ukraine has, for now. We've not needed it. The sort of missiles that fall on Kyiv could fall on London .

Indeed.

It is a little early for that if you are still able to post here. Sky news has never been a useful or reliable source of news so it is not much of a surprise they jumped the gun with your obituary

SkyNews Australia is a great source of news.
You probably don't like it because the opinions of most of its hosts don't agree with yours.
Rita's segment "Lefties Losing It" for example.
Not sensible people on the left of politics with wisdom and reasonable, workable, policies and ideas....but the ones with policies and ideas that are "bad news".
Like closing all the coal and gas fired power stations in a mad rush to renewables when the renewables are clearly not yet ready to replace them and won't be for a very long time.

Nauru will be fine as your final destination.

Nauru is great.
Beautiful Pacific island.
Swimming, fishing, lazing around on sunny beaches, just like the asylum-seekers who paid people smugglers did in detention.
They were pictured behind the wire fence, bemoaning their horrible situation...when but feet away the gates to their compound were wide open and they could come and go freely in daylight hours...returning at dusk.
They were warned not to pay people smugglers because they'd never be settled in Australia, but they refused to listen.

I do not want you banned, Bambu. I want to see you caught without your papers and sent to an alien detention gulag never to be seen or heard from again. I just want you to be treated with the respect and consideration you clearly deserve.

Exactly why I'll never be leaving Australia's shores.

Please explain.
You are a horrible person. That is my take on it.

Sounds like he's trying to get me banned, while at the same time hurling personal insults at other forum members here that would see him banned in most other forums.

Saw on my news the other day...
para:
"chaos in Congress as members trade insults"
*
one insult something about eyelashes.

Speaker should've blown an airhorn and said:

"Excuse me! This is not elementary school!"

NYT reports that three NYPD officers were filmed punching three demonstrators at a pro-Palestinian rally in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

"The police say protesters were blocking the streets."

"with police flooding the neighbourhood and using force against the protesters."

#####

At last.
Time to keep the streets clear.
Commerce must be allowed to operate without interruption by protesters.
As should the lives of citizens  moving around working and shopping, exercising.

Bambu, right now during peace is the best time to send the Peace Corps into Afghanistan, and Iraq, etc, and they need to send in the teachers, and the preachers, and the Catholic Churches, etc, and Kiwanis, etc, and they can have the Key Club for the high school kids, and Circle K for the college age youth, etc. Now is the time to win the hearts, and minds, of the people of Afghanistan and Iraq, etc, now during peacetime. And we can control their movies, and television, and radios, and music, etc. And money has power during peacetime.

Salute,

Tony V.

I fear Christian churches, teachers, preachers, and Peace corps folk would not be welcomed in Afghanistan by the Taliban or Islamic State militants.
Not sure about Iraq today.
