The offer of $30.5 million per year seemed conservative - but given that in arbitration for 2022's salary they offered Judge $17 million, it is hardly surprising that he thinks their offer is lowballing him.

I look forward to his free agency. Should be fascinating to read about.

Yesterday's RS game felt like a squander.

Today's game so far simply makes me want to tell the closed captioning typist, "His name is Eck, not Nick!"

They've corrected his name to Dennis. Better than Nick, not as good as Eck.

But our left fielder just made the last out of an inning. His name? Vertigo.

Spring training was too short for the closed captioning folks.

Guardians are averaging 5 rums a game! This year is going to be... wait, I think I am missing a decimal point....

You've had quite enough rums.

Dramatic ending to tonight's game between the Red Sox and Yankees.

Nicely done by Diekman. And very nice to walk out with a win after the last two games in which we had leads and lost them.

Steve Kwan is hitting .800 with a 1.857 OPS. If he keeps that up all year, I predict he will be the AL Rookie of the Year!

Or even if he only does half as well!

Out source formatting to Red, did you?

Kwan is most likely a slightly shorter Brett Gardner, max. But as Peter Brand would note, his biggest tool has been, he gets on base.

The biggest fear with Kwan, organizationally,  is that his lack of extra base power may make pitchers pound the strike zone rather than locate in the zone, and will result in fewer walks. He has a real good eye for the strike zone. I like him. With him and Straw, that gives us a good 2/3 of a defensive outfield, although not a lot of pop. Maybe can get away with Naylor or even Reyes out there. There is talk of moving Rosario out there full time, but that is a 25 home run outfield, total.

I wouldlike to think Kwan is getting stronger at 24

X base hit rates:

Freshman -  4/14  (xbh/h)
Freshman summer -  0/8
Sophomore -   8/53
Sophomore summer (Cape Cod) -  4/31
Junior  -  16/91
Same year (pro)  -  4/18
Age 21  -    36/134
Age 22 -     DNP
Age 23   -   31/97
Age 24   -     current     spring and first 3 games -    4/23

Anyway - thank for alerting me to this guy.  I had never heard of him.  I guess he played with Madrigal (more heralded, now with Cubs) at OSU.  I think they won a national title.
