The airport concession roasted him online because 80% of the tab was his bar bill.
Yeah, Brooks has finger on the pulse of Mr. and Mrs. America and all the ships at sea!

Brooks has impressed me at times, but lately his compass seems no longer to point to magnetic north.

And I notice others, who actually covered the protests, saw something a bit different from the RW depiction.

Quote
As former Washington Post journalist Paul Waldman explained in his newsletter, People who have actually reported from the protests  have by and large found them to be well-behaved. The vast majority of scary, violent images stem not from the protesters themselves, Waldman argues, but from the police crackdowns...

Still the reading comprehension problems.  Both you (Luee) and JimDick.

Constitution protects free speech - I didn't say it protected threats, harm, or incitement to violence.  Pro Palestinian is not the same as anti-Semitic hate speech.  Were some criticisms of Israel crossing the line?  No doubt.  Are some protestors poisoning  peaceful protest and 1st Amendment exercise by violence and hate speech?  No doubt.  But that doesn't mean anyone has the right to beat up anyone in a group that's protesting Israel current policy or warfare conduct. Like Larry's peaceful colllege pal.  Last time I'm going to parse this here.  Either some brain areas can recover from severe cognitive impairment or they can't.   Good luck.  Over and out.

(ETA: fix typo which made it look, erroneously, that I was also directing the remarks to YG)

I'm posting stuff in the On Deeper Consideration thread occasionally, in hopes that serious readers can find something of interest there minus the usual tidal wave of shitposts this thread seems to attract.

A somewhat different take on socialism.

Japanese philosopher challenges the received wisdom of the Green New Deal, and looks at how Marx changed some of his views later in his life.   Eco-socialism is the move towards degrowth and away from capitalism.

Right wing what? Wonderful things happening at UCLA now.Rubber bulleting the Hamas lovers.

When did you first know you hated the Constitution?  Anyone is free to love whatever political group they want, no matter how loathsome others may find it.  Your glorification of violence makes you no better than the most violent and hateful protestors, you inbred fucktard hypocrite.

It is long past time that Congress act to protect Jewish Americans from the scourge of antisemitism on campuses around the country, Rep. Russell Fry, R-S.C., said Tuesday.

Case in point.   The law (as well as most campus codes governing student and faculty conduct) already protects all ethnic groups from the scourge of racist attacks, you grandstanding idiot.  When a party promotes a new law covering what is already legally covered, it is to score political  points not craft needed legislation.

Wish Congress was as enthused about protecting pro Palestinian free speech as it is about protecting pro Israel free speech.

Free speech means a right to criticize the government without penalty by the Government.
It does not protect speech threatening harm against others.  Until you understand that you do not deserve any respect.

Already laws against threatening harm against others.  That's why this new House bill is such grandstanding nonsense.  No one here is advocating threats or hate speech.  You fucking lying strawman peddling cunt.  The 1st A protects the right to make political criticism against Israel.  Not the same as telling Jewish students to drop dead.  You fucking lying strawman peddling cunt.

And this is why I have stopped bothering with your shitposts.  This time, I will have the sense to turn on the blocker so I don't see them.  Fuck you, asshole.

...Needing a summer gig I became a tour guide with the Old Town Trolley company. One of the guys in my training class who also spent the summer as a conductor was Steve Tamari a Palestinian graduate student at Georgetown. I attended his wedding with my wife and kids. He is now a professor at SIU and this week at a protests cops beat the shit out of him. You never met a nicer gentlemen. I tell you DC is a small town in a big city.

Wish Congress was as enthused about protecting pro Palestinian free speech as it is about protecting pro Israel free speech.

Whenever I visit the city I grew up in, it is weird how that small town in a bigger town thing works.  300,000 people and I keep running into the same couple hundred perennials, no matter where I go.

You walked through my home area. I am from Amityville which is a hamlet and village within the Town of Babylon as is the village of Babylon.

My knowledge of the town was from a frightening documentary concerning suspiciously good real estate bargains.  And the anxieties of home ownership.  Margot Kidder seemed concerned about lack of disclosure re prior residents.

...not sugary, nutrition free junk.

That could describe the Boyardee slop almost as well as the pop tarts.

Spouse and I finally caught The Eyes of Tammy Faye.  Now clear to me why no one but no one disputed Chastain winning the BA Oscar.  Made me think of her also fine perf in Molly's Game, both films in which she plays a nice girl from the heartland who gets sucked into a world of money and deceit.

RIP Dicky Betts.  Listening to Jessica again, a great instrumental.  This used to come round a lot on the jukebox in the taverns of my youth and I can almost hear behind the music the click of billiard balls, smell perfume, smoke, sweat, beer.
