More about the wonders of unregulated utility markets....

https://www.npr.org/sections/live-updates-winter-storms-2021/2021/02/21/969912613/after-days-of-mass-outages-some-texas-residents-now-face-huge-electric-bills

Utilities, like medical care,  should be people -centered and not profit-centered.   Like in that famously liberal socialist state of....

Nebraska....

Quote
In Nebraska, 121 publicly-owned utilities, 10 cooperatives, and 30 public power districts provide electricity to a population of around 1.8 million people. Public and cooperative ownership keeps costs low for the state's consumers. Nebraskans pay one of the lowest rates for electricity in the nation and revenues are reinvested in infrastructure to ensure reliable and cheap service for years to come. "There are no stockholders, and thus no profit motive," the Nebraska Power Association proudly proclaims. "Our electric prices do not include a profit. That means Nebraska's utilities can focus exclusively on keeping electric rates low and customer service high. Our customers, not big investors in New York and Chicago, own Nebraska's utilities." Payments (in lieu of taxes) from the state's publicly-owned utilities exceed $30 million a year and support a variety of social services throughout the state — including the public education system.

GOP has a knack for making Democratic policy successes look like failures to the gullible.   These are people who can get their faithful to believe a couple windmills in Sweden is the entire infrastructure in Texas.  And believe that Governor Abbot can lay the blame on green policies he hasn't even implemented.

Sure. That’s all we need are more Government “ green” policies!
Every Federal administration back to Bush 41 has endorsed and then renewed the federal tax credit for building renewable Wind and Solar Farms( worth up to 30%of the cost). The end result has been higher prices for electricity generated by nuclear, gas, and coal plants hence many going out of business
Of course adding more unreliable wind and solar sources leaves the likelihood the grids will be out of balance, especially during bad weather when reliable power is needed most.

Don't know if you've notice, genius, but wind installations had a lower failure rate than NG and oil plants.  Also wondering if you're aware that bad weather tends to be accompanied by, especially in the plains, lots of WIND.  In other states, like the Dakotas and Nebraska, the wind power stayed up and was the RELIABLE BACKUP while it was quite cold and WINDY and the extra watts were much needed.  And, to counter one other lie in your post, wind in now cheaper than fossil fuel energy by quite a margin.  That's why it's jumped from near zero to around 25% of power in heartland states.  And that's just getting started.

Fac,  your recent posts are more optimistic and less about Red having syphilis or bowel problems.   I appreciate the change in quality.

But I agree with Bankshot.   If he goes too big,  and shuts out Republican legislators,  there will be repercussions at the state and local level.   Politics is defined as "the art of the possible."

No.   You can't have a coal plant on your roof, providing backup when conventional grid fails.  Grids come from the fossil fuel era.   Green provides a more flexible mix of home production and plant production.   Which reduces dependence on centralized grid sources.

Now go find another obstacle you can whinge about.

If the other GOP senators had voted to convict,  they would have essentially been admitting they had spent the past four years in dereliction of their duty to the constitution and the nation while sucking up to a demagogue.  That's their perception, anyway.   To acquit now is to indict yourself in the past.

Is the party truly better off in terms of fund raising and voter turnout if Trump disappears?

Bruh...

Depends if it's disappear like Jimmy Hoffa or like someone just keeping a low profile.

If the latter,  it would allow the party to hear some slightly saner voices without them being drowned out by the inane and inflammatory chatterbox.

The first option is attractive,  but leads to martyrdom.

Meanwhile those GOP Senators who practice tasseomancy likely have seen yesterday’s poll showing 74 per cent of GOP voters wanrt Trump to remain active in the party.

"remain active" not synonymous with being POTUS again.   Put that in your tasse,  and drink it.
Whoosh! is a sound frequently heard when you post responses.

Whoosh like the sound of a passing jet miles over your head?
