Interesting discussion, despite the silly headline.

I'll note that Mike Andrews (RS 2nd baseman for 4 years) was 6' 3" and 195 and that Jerry Adair was 6'.

It was a few years before the Sox went below 6' on a regular basis there, with Denny Doyle, the 2nd of three consecutive 2nd basemen acquired from the Angels.

I still think of 2nd baseman as the the one position where the scrappy little guy can be a MLB star. Growing up its was Nellie Fox, with a wad of chewing tobacco bulging in his cheek, or Bobbie Richardson, and then Joe Morgan who were the role models, of the dirt dog defensive whiz who could hit a bit, and more recently Pedroia and Altuve, were the small guy who excelled at the position. IIRC it wasn't until Grich excelled at 2nd for the Os, in the early 70s, that a tall guy was considered the best fielder at the position.

Good win to start post AS game.

Pretty decent start by ERod and nice 3-inning mop-up by "Goose" Houck.

Ys are hurting, but awinzawin

It's not like the Ys don't still have plenty of folks who theoretically have a ton of power!

And it was a good game by ERod, to be sure.

All 6 ILed Yankees will be on for the full 10 days. No word on which was/were not vaccinated nor on whether they might have developed symptoms.

Privacy, after all.

Since that is what baseball's IL has always been about.

Just like their drug policy, their PED policy, and their domestic abuse policy.

Oh, wait...

clown show of a shit show in da Bronx.

From the rainless rain delay to running an inning that should not have been run to the 1st base ump calling every checked swing a strike to the ridiculous out call he made (that thankfully got quickly overturned) to the fact that the umps should have called the game at the baseball thrown at the left fielder because of unsafe playing conditions...

your words are too kind.

I like that we had a concussed ump calling ball and strikes.

I think the conspiracy was the Ys held the game and hoped the coming torrential rain would allow them to reschedule later in the season.

And it seems they got lucky

I think if Covid interferes with fielding your team, you should have to forfeit the game.
There should be mandatory vac for all MLB personnel.

So I pop the Mets game on and see it is 6-0 Pirates in the second inning - this after I read the recap of the debacle yesterday that left us at just 47-42.

I can handle losses due to injury/illness - games like yesterday make me cringe.

So, anyway - about to lose 4th straight to Pittsburgh, analysts says, well...there is still plenty of time and we have our bullpen set.  Right.......

Just checked back in and its 6-5 in the sixth.  We'll see.  Regardless, not too much hope for NYM the rest of the way.

Progress:

Philadelphia has won 10 of its past 14 games and have won four series in a row for the first time since June 12 to 24, 2018

Sox looked lifeless tonight against a depleted team.

Last night was a clown show

Sox were the clowns tonight
