SAG just decided to go on strike. The Entertainment Industry has changed, and it is not the same as it was back in the old days with Carl Laemmle, etc, etc, etc, and then with Lucy and Desi as bosses in Hollywood, and other Local people, the Bosses of the Movie Studios used to live and work here, and the Bosses were altruistic and they made sure that the people were well taken care of. But, now the studios are owned by heartless foreign corporations that only care about profits and which do not care about the quality of the lives of the workers and the quality of the communities where they operate. The heartless corporations only care about money, and they do not care about the workers, so we need Unions to force the corporations to be altruistic and to treat the workers well.
Go look at the neighborhood around Paramount Studios, it is a horrible neighborhood with bars on the windows, etc, and trash all over, it is a slum, Paramount is not contributing in a healthy way to the community. They only care about money and not about the community where they do business. Paramount needs to love and nurture their neighborhood and they need the input from people who live in the local area here in California where the Movie Studio is. And Paramount needs to hire local people to work at Paramount, and local kids from the community can be taught about film and they can go to film school, etc. And Burbank is bad now, and Hollywood is bad, it is because heartless corporations are in charge instead of having good loving Christians from the local community in charge. If locals were in charge then everything would be better, but with the foreign corporations then the only way to deal with them is with Unions and with Strikes.
Salute,
Tony V.
