Epistemology wise, I'm an agnostic.  Belief wise, I see no problem with a finite human mind seeking connection to a universal mind.  We humans seem, in our basic nature, meant to seek meaning, love and greater understanding.  I think the couple in question are blocking their own path in this seeking, but have not followed the case closely enough to know where they land on the spectrum of prejudice. 

Be interesting to hear a theologian like Robert Barron weigh in on this.

Wasn't making a point re the case.  Open forums are not required to stay welded to a narrowly defined line of thought, so I said something about the spiritual aspect of our decisions to judge or exclude people.

Yesterday's shooting at Chapel Hill is rather mysterious.  I note that campuses now have to react to any shooting as if it might be a mass shooting in progress.  On the sketchy info I saw this morning, apparently it was not.

The 21 yr old Nazi-loving, Black People-hating psycho shot dead a Black woman who was sitting in her car, fired 11 shots thru her windscreen.
Then went into the convenience store, shot people dead, fired at others in the store and running from the store but missed.
He was acting suspiciously near the "predominantly-Black" university. Cops saw him, followed him....he killed himself as the cops arrived at the convenience store, reportedly.
Armed security, guns ready to fire, in the store could've saved lives.

Bambuworld is now thinking of banning Swastikas and other symbols of hate from being displayed in public.
I guess that would include tattoos.
Should've happened decades ago...along with burning the national flag in public.
Probably time the same thing/s were done in America.

21 yr old psycho had a past forced mental health assessment, which was not included in his background check records...so the gun stores that sold him the weapons legally had no reason not to do so.

21 yr old psycho texted his father from the store as he was committing his attack. Told his father to unlock his bedroom and look inside...there his father found pure hatred of Black People material etc.
Locked bedrooms are bad.
Open bedrooms are good...parents can see inside.

Until you can come up with a reason, besides easy access to guns, that mass shootings do not happen nearly as frequently (or at all) in other countries, where presumably there are plenty of people that hate others too, your constant droning that "more guns make you safer" seems kind of silly.

Guns exist in America.
Handguns, semi-auto rifles, pump actions shotguns etc.
330 million population...390 million guns.
The bad people have guns, and use them for evil.
Unless the good people have guns, and are prepared to use them, they will always be victims.

The next mass shooting is not far away, innocent people will die.
Parents will *see* their children die.
Innocent adults will die.
Time for change.
Physical barriers, can the bad people walk thru steel walls?
Can they walk thru locked steel doors? brick walls?
Shoot thru bullet proof glass?
Walk thru proper security fences?

Bad people teens including girls in bambuworld are carrying knives and machetes...despite that being banned.
Unarmed lone security guards are sitting ducks.
One was *hacked up*, lived...by 3 teens incl 13 yr old girl, in Brisbane last week, at a mall supermarket...as he was escorting them out of the store.

Dave Chappelle reckons the best way to have assault rifles banned is for every Black person to go and buy one.

That fetish tends to be based more on feelings rather than anything rational, cogent, or coherent enough to call an argument.

In the case of Bambu feelings of inadequacy are the main drivers.

The prisons here in California are making the prisoners racist, watch the movie "Blood In and Blood Out" and also "American History X," they are dividing the prisoners up by race and they are fighting the prisoners against each other with race riots, etc, to control the prisoners. I learned about it in Psychology class in college, and also I had a couple of Uncles who were criminals who spent a lot of time in prison, they were very racist when they first got out of prison. I wrote a letter to the prison where one of my Uncles was and I told the Warden to stop making the prisoners racist, I told him that I knew what the Warden was doing and I told him to stop making our people racist. The prisoners are all racist when they get released and they take that poison into society.

Of note, there is a great movie with Robert Redford where he plays a Prison Warden, he goes in undercover as a prisoner to see what the prison was like and then he exposes himself as being the new Warden. It is a great movie. The name of the movie is "Brubaker." We need all new Wardens here in California, and we need to improve our prison system, and we need to work harder to reform and improve the lives of the prisoners. They can learn to groom dogs, and they can groom the stray dogs from the animal shelters in order to learn how to be dog groomers,  etc. We need to teach the prisoners how to make an honest living.

Our prisons are a source of racism in society, and we need to reform our prisons.

Who knows...
...increased physical barriers and better armed security by good people could lessen the death toll from gun violence...or more of the people dying would be the bad people intent on evil.

Of course there are less deaths from guns in countries where there are less guns.
The percentages I read the other day were:

US  80%
Canada 40%
Australia 11%
Britain 4%

But, America's culture is guns...so that has to be worked within.
