pound the under (opened at 46 now 41, I got 42 1/2)

spread now up to 17

could be a tricky cover in bad weather

Better trust your kicker.

in a monsoon, I'd rather put my trust in the O-line and D-line to determine the outcome.

A 30 min presentation detailing all the teams throughout NFL history and explaining how each team got its name.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovdbrdCIP7U
Includes some vintage play clips.
Interesting.
They say the last NFL team to fold was the one-year Dallas Texans (1959 or 60, I think it was).

Many teams got their name from Fan Naming Contests.

The Cowboys were almost named the Steers, the fan favorite name, but Tex Shramm didn't like it.  Rangers was also strongly considered.   but then they went with the simple and classic Cowboys, a backup choice.

KO Pool

wk-6 I'm kicking it between (risk low to high) Pats, Pack, Chiefs

I was thinking of using Skins, but new coach on the road seemed too big a risk.

They really didn't fold, but Hunt moved them to KC after 3 years in Dallas, and renamed them the Chiefs.

There was an NFL team, the Dallas Texans that played one season in the early 50's and moved to Baltimore and became the Colts.

The Texans had earlier in been in Boston (as the Yanks) and New York as the Bulldogs.

I got the year confused (due to the two Dallas Texan teams).

The 1960 era Dallas Texans, which moved to KC, were an AFL team.

The NFL Dallas Texans lasted one year -- 1952 -- and are considered the last NFL franchise to fail.  They pretty much took over the failed NY Yanks players, but weren't considered a continuation of that lineage.  The Baltimore Colts started in 1953 and took on many of the Texan players, but are considered an expansion team and new franchise.

So the Dallas Texans are considered a one year franchise which failed.
Apparently had a rough season and the last few home games were played in Hershey PA and one in Ohio.

Don't let those sunny Jersey skies fool you kid, from what I can tell the monsoon is still on for southeastern Ma. And should hit Foxboro with heavy rain and wind of 20-40mph).

From this AM's Globe

In addition to the rain that has already fallen, another 3 to 6 inches is expected Thursday and Friday in Southeastern Massachusetts, where storm totals could reach 8 inches, the weather service said.

A high wind warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Friday for Cape Cod and the Islands, as well as Block Island in Rhode Island, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour expected. On Thursday morning, gusts of 35 to 45 miles per hour were reported, with sustained winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour.

You're conservative right kid?

So lets go with a conservative 27-3 Pats

Who knows its possible Dylan was wrong.

Shaughnessy on Pats-Giants WBW

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/patriots/2019/10/09/the-giants-remember-are-big-part-new-england-football-history/hew8CZg1WHE3kmcGdf5EnI/story.html

The New York Giants, who will play the 5-0 Patriots Thursday night at Gillette Stadium, are a big part of New England’s football history. Your awareness of Patriots-Giants linkage depends on your age.

If you’re a New England football fan over the age of 60, it’s a whole different story. You probably grew up rooting for the Giants. They were your team before the Patriots became your team.

As a little kid, I loved the Giants, even though they played in Yankee Stadium. The Giants contended annually. They had star power. They played in the greatest game ever played, the 1958 sudden-death championship game against the Baltimore Colts. The Giants had Frank Gifford, Sam Huff, Y.A. Tittle, Roosevelt Grier, and Del Shofner.

“The first three years of the Patriots, we played our games on Friday nights because we didn’t want to compete with the Giants on Sunday,’’ says former Patriots general manager Patrick Sullivan, whose father, Billy Sullivan, was the founder of the Patriots. “It was an uphill battle.

It was easy to root for both teams pre-merger, and I did, but by the mid-60s I was more Pats fan than Giants fans. And I could and did see them play in several area stadiums including Fenway and BC.
