I told you fellas at the time the G-Men drafted Barkley with the 2nd pick was like a middle-class guy buying a Bentley. Its nice, a really asesome set of wheels, but you really need a 4-wheel drive SUV/station wagon to haul the kids, get through the snow, and whatnot. Barkley was an expensive gee-gae for a team with so many obvious needs, QB, OL, Defense. Or you could have traded him for a basket of picks and gone a far distance in reloading in several areas, rather than get a RB with no O-line to help him.

Barkley is a gas-guzzling high maintence, hugely depreciating Bentley.

Heh

Why do you think you're right?

------

Kay tried to say today that Jones just fell in Giants' laps

Funny.

Huge high pick coming up - and with QB/RB and WR looking settled.  Some talent on D as well, set to be bolstered by a big pass rusher.  Division not real strong

I might be right or wrong,

But it was the way I viewed the G-men's strengths, weaknesses, assets, liabilities,  and prioritized their needs 2 years ago.

Now it seems others are drawing similar conclusions after two years of piss poor performance in an admittedly piss-poor NFC East.

Barkley was a Bentley the G-Men should have passed on for more sensible ride.

The Bentley played like a RAM truck year 1.

High ankle sprain year 2 - but made some nice cuts when I saw him.

To view him as Kay did today is criminal.

They think Wayne Gallman can work similar holes with similar results?

Aaron Jones and Chris Carson are a couple of later (5th, 7th round) picks doing well.  Other than that mostly first and second rounders atop the stats.

I didn't here Kay, so Ive no opinion on that, but IMO Barkley, who I recognized as a premier talent, was a luxury item that a team living on the poverty line could live without. I thought it was a poor pick for a team that had so many other more important needs to fill than RB.

But who did you say they should have taken instead?

Everyone at the time was saying "the giants messed up and passed on D'arnold, Allen, Rosen et al"

But did they?  Did they really?

Are you taking Denzel Ward or Quentin Nelson #2?

Then you have great hindsight.

Or Roquan Smith who didn't project in the Top 3.

Or Minkah Fitzpatrick who went #11?

C'mon now.  Barkley was the pick.

At the time I thought the Giants had two decent options for the #2 pick

1) QB-my choice was Darnold

2) if a QB wasn't the choice (as we saw a few months earlier Eli and his fans might get upset) trade the #2 to a team that wanted Darnold or another QB for a basket of picks to address the Giants many problems. Using a NFL value matrix the Giants could have traded down to the 5th pick and gotten, a 1,2,3, 4 (or future hi picks) from a rebuilding team, for the #2 pick used for Barkley.

IMO drafting Barkley, as good, as he was, was a mistake, and a wasted opportunity to rebuild in many areas.

If you have to spy on Cinci to beat them there is something wrong with you.

Tough calls for fantasy semifinals

I think I will stay with Rodgers over Prescott, though "experts" have Dak 7th and AR 10th

Also staying with Sutton over A J Brown and Higbie at 3rd wr/flex

Should be close
