Mentally challenging to you.

They made us add up the columns of numbers in the phone book in our heads, without error...or do it again.
Yes, mentally challenging...work all day serving customers, handling cash, no computers, be wary of forged noted, crooks trying to cash stolen travellers cheques, bullies trying to hurry you up...make one mistake and be short in your cash, take money out of your own wallet and put it in.
Don't balance?
Gotta find out why, took 'hours'...staff angry they couldn't go to the pub.
I soon wised up..."slow and steady wins the race". "Double checking everything is king".

Thank you for clarifying.

It is good to know I did not misrepresent in any way your storied career.

It must make you proud to know that now all over the world there are boxes that do your job much better than you ever did and with none of the griping.

Your shitty performance may have single-handedly accelerated the now successful push to render you obsolete with not only technology but personnel that is not as racist, sexist, ignorant, objectionable and skeevy as you are, at least in the branches. The board rooms need to do a lot of catching up.

Eat your porridge knowing that your nation is better off now that you are no longer part of its banking experience.

You elevate by your absence.

Porridge is on my hate list.
They just sacked another 10,000 staff in the one I worked for,  women mostly (part-timers, the men *all* moved on decades ago), of different races and cultures. No discrimination here, they sack anyone and everyone equally.
All off to unemployment.
Other banks did the same, but less numbers.
Internet banking killed bank jobs, ATMs are being removed too.
Cards are king, everywhere.

People by the large amount are working from home, permanently...4 days a week, one in the office, or one day a fortnight in the office.
In my youth one could afford a home...not today...homes are now unaffordable, young people not highly paid professionals will *never* leave home.
I was at a party, some guys asked me what I did for a living...I replied " house-husband"... "washing, ironing, cleaning, grocery shopping, paying bills, negotiating with utility companies, many companies etc.
Washing car, mowing lawn, gardening etc."
They and other guys laughed.
They made some comments that their wives thought demeaned their jobs as "house-wife".
Bad idea guys. :)

I like oat porridge.  Rolled oats, spoon of lemon juice, berries, pinch of sugar, butter, nut milk.  Sometimes stir in some PB or almond butter.   Heaven.

You and mrs bambu are kindred spirits, she loves all that.
In my mind oats are horse food.

One of the great attorneys defending trump just went on MSNBC and stipulated his client committed the central crime in the conspiracy for which he is about to be charged in NY.

It is nice to see don getting the help he deserves, especially when he no longer has the ability to kill tens of thousands of Americans while torpedoing our security and economic well-being.

Anyway...in my mind the banking system in America needs serious reform.
Can't be having people losing hundreds of millions of dollars, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, or even ten thousand dollars in bank collapses.
No bank should be able to collapse, they should be tightly regulated by the federal reserve/ US govt.
Airtight, watertight, and every other tight.

My ambassador to the US, Joe Hockey, ..........former treasurer (all hell broke loose when he was caught on camera "committing a crime" in the grounds of the national parliament in Canberra, pron Canb'ra, ... with another man.
Their "crime"?
Legally smoking cigars in their downtime.
They were Conservatives you see.

..........said yesterday that the SVB bank went kaput because it didn't lend money ( like a conventional bank)... but only took deposits and invested that money. Made some investments that didn't work out well, and the so called 'bank' went bust.
Banks like that should not be called banks, but rather "Investment Companies"...and be on the Stock Exchange.
US govt should be guaranteeing all deposits lodged in all US banks.

"Only" to $250,000 in deposits does the FDIC insure.  The FDIC waived that limit here and committed to protecting all deposits it seems.  The cap limit will likely be revisited at some point.

The executives have direct liability so once once the limit is reached of what can be recouped from their assets, the size and nature of what is left will inform the next steps.

The $250k limit was a brake on bigger banks making risky deals given the threat to uninsured investors.
Now Biden has put shareholders and taxpayers at risk while giving the bank deal makers less incentive to be judicious and careful.
Joe gets to sleep easier knowing when the shit really hits the fan in the next few years someone else will be in charge.

Investors and shareholders are shit out of luck

The government i covering  the depositors interest from a fund made up of fees from the banks.

Lets correct some misconceptions. Allowing 10-15 million Latin Americans to enter in mass does not improve diversification it destroys it. The same problems that have kept the banana republics on the back burner will be brought here. Number one separation of church and state an unheard of concept there. Two separation of the military from civilian rule. Three laws against drugs and child prostitution are not enforced. Which leads into four; criminal control of the government. Yes the leaders of the drug cartels will be coming here. Instead of an elected official you will be forced to negotiate with your poppy.

You seem to be taking good care of your misconceptions. It looks like you are keeping them warm and fed.
