For the Padres: A

The Padres have one of the best offenses in baseball, but it's been relatively weak at designated hitter. That's where Moreland, who bears a 1.177 OPS and eight home runs, figures to slot in. To boot, he has a $3 million club option that could keep him in San Diego next year.

Both Rosario and Potts are legitimate prospects, but neither was among the best of San Diego's loaded system. So as win-now trades go, this is a good one.

     

For the Red Sox: A

Though neither Rosario nor Potts placed highly in San Diego, they now rank as Boston's No. 16 and 20 prospects on MLB.com.

That's a good haul for Moreland, and one that the Red Sox were right to pursue. Though they could have kept him through 2021, his up-and-down nature gave them a good excuse to sell high.

Gambling is nothing new at Wrigley Field, as long-time bleacher denizens know, but the ballpark may be getting a legal sportsbook if the Chicago Cubs and DraftKings get their way.

The team on Thursday announced it has partnered with the Boston-based sports betting outfit and plans to establish DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field, pending necessary approvals....The Cubs said the proposed sportsbook with DraftKings would offer online access in the area surrounding the ballpark.

What could go wrong?

Players couldn't possibly go into the clubhouse during the game and make bets, could they? Or could they just send a clubhouse guy to make the bet for them?


That's just off the top of my head.

I know that they could be doing this already, in some capacity, but putting the fox inside the hen house could well turn a few chickens' heads.

I guess there are no newspapers in Philly worth reading. But i wouldn't know as I don't waste my time searching for shit to troll others with.
In any case.

But he Seaver) also pitched the final games of his career for the Boston Red Sox in 1986. And if he hadn’t hurt his knee in Toronto in late September, he would have started Game 4 of the World Series against the Mets instead of Al Nipper. With Seaver in the rotation, I believe the Red Sox would have won that haunting World Series.


For a team-up 2-1, playing at home in Game 4, having Seaver, a tested WS veteran, and who had pitched pretty well for the Sox, (3.80 ERA) would have been an big upgrade over Nipper, who pitched to a 5.38 ERA in '86, and was making his post-season debut.

That doesn't seem a wild speculation about Seaver or the '86 series.
