So you would have gone to Kopech not Kimbrel?

Yes.

Kimbrel's record against Houston is not good. Kopech's got too little history to make projections about how he would do, but given the difference between the two in the latter half of the year, I would have gone with Kopech.

The Athletic asked 2 players, scouts, and coaches to predict the wild card games - one from each league in the three categories.

All 6 picked the Dodgers.

5 of six picked the Yankees, with the AL scout choosing the Red Sox, but noting that either would be smoked by the Rays.

And their predictions for the current sets of series:

Unanimous to pick the Rays. Everything else is at least a little mixed.

Yes.

Extreme disagree.  At 5-4 down the game becomes Kimbrel to Hendricks - and hope the comeback happens.

Wanna change gears when it hits 9-4 no problem

Lets see how Tony does the rest of the way.  Like I said Game 5 will be very tough without an absolute Lynn gem.

If you want to put the less successful pitcher in, that's your call, for sure.

Kimbrel proved that putting him in was a mistake. Kopech did not have the chance.

In a one run game at this point, I would put Kopech.

Would you put Kimbrel in again?

Check yourself - its extreme tomfoolery, your thought process.

You simply do not make a deal like that for a Kimbrel then leave him on the shelf.

You do when he is not performing.

Putting him in when he is not Kimbrel is far greater tomfoolery, Kid.

5-4

then 9-4.

They need to figure out why, same as Red Sox and Chris Sale.

Should the Red Sox start Chris Sale in Game 5 of this series if it makes it that far? Not without a damned good reason to expect a different result - I don't care what is salary is.

Why?

Are you serious?

The other team has guys trying to kick your ass.  That is the "why" of it.

Your managerial instincts remain as sound as they were for the White Sox.

I expect a shutout.  May lay some sheckles on it.

Yeah - books heavy, heavy on LA.  Thanks for the quotes

Got a shut out... just not the right game.

The Dodgers and Giants blew your notion in the 2nd inning.

Keeping it tied would be very good.
