Bashball in Philly: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33542564/ex-cincinnati-reds-outfielder-nick-castellanos-agrees-join-philadelphia-phillies-sources-say

Phillies will try to outhit their defense, which won't be good.

Projected line-up    (Consider switching 1 and 2)
1   Jean Segura   2B
2   Kyle Schwarber    DH
3   Bryce Harper   OF
4   J.T. Realmuto   C
5   Nick Castellanos OF
6   Rhys Hoskins   1B
7   Didi Gregorius    SS
8   Alec Bohm          3B
9   Odubel Herrera OF

Over the luxury tax threshold and joining the Mets in the NLE as the uber-spenders.

Good points found here on this move: https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/phillies/10-thoughts-phillies-signing-nick-castellanos

It better work.

For what it is worth, here is what I think the team that I will not ever, ever, ever never accidentally call the Indians starters will be:

Miles Straw CF
Armed Rosario SS
Jose Ramirez 3b
Franmil Reyes DH
Josh Naylor LF (Could be Oscar Mercado or Steve Kwan if Naylor is still hurt)
Bobby Bradley 1b (Possibly Naylor, with Kwan or Mercado in left)
Gabriel Arias/Andres Gimenez 2b
Bradley Zimmer RF (Or Mercado/Kwan)
Automatic Out Austin Hedges C

That is a competent line up for... maybe the first 5. So we will need pitchers:

Shane Bieber
Aaron Civale
Zach Plesac
Cal Quantr
Tristan McKenzie

And because no one ever has all their pitchers healthy all year, we have Eli Morgan, one or more Logan Allen, and J C Mejia

Bull pen:

Emmanuel Class (Closer)
James Karinchak
Anthony Gose
Trevor Stephanie
Nick Sandlin

So... that is a real strong pitching staff. But with that offense, 3rd place behind Chicago and Minnesota.

Pleasant surprise for Boston.  Story joins the fold and will play 2B.

Very nice news. I do wonder what becomes of Christian Arroyo, but as the article noted he sure didn't end up playing much!

Yes, $23 million per year is definitely more than $20 million per year or $19.8 million per year, but the Phillies are certainly competitive in the ka-ching game!

I do not support the sale of Angel Stadium by the City of Anaheim to Arte Moreno, it belongs to all of the people of Anaheim. In the lawsuit they make it look like it is just the homeless people fighting against the sale of Angel Stadium, but the Stadium is owned by all of the people of Anaheim, including the homeowners and business owners.

NO SALE of Angel Stadium.

I should run for Mayor of Anaheim, I have a friend from Kiwanis who was Mayor Pro Tem of Anaheim on 9/11. At least I am not corrupt like the current batch of politicians in Anaheim. We have a good councilman in my district who attended Harvard, but the Mayor is a real dirt-bag.

Salute,

Tony V.

Bernie Sanders is trying to save baseball: https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2022/3/23/22992836/bernie-sanders-mlb-antitrust-monopoly-explained

I like this typo:
"How vial is all this to the future of baseball?"

I thought this meant "vital" but on afterthought realized that "vile" would work just as well.

But how petri dish is it to the future of baseball, anyway?!

MLB is apparently having its percentage calculations done by hand rather than computer.
