Just one matchup was for certain in that eighth.  Embree for Giambi.

What was "his job"?

Who pitches the eighth and who closes?

Seriously?

Re-read my posts, its all there.

or check the box scores from the 3 Sox wins in that series.

I knew you wouldnt answer

Yanks had Nick Johnsonleading off, then it was the heart of the lineup.

Give me the moves.

Most important - who closes?  Wakefield?

Ir wasnt a good bullpen that year.  Not sure why you remember it as such.

I provided the information before you asked the question

Google "Timlin in the 8th and Willimson in the 9th"

It was a pretty popular phrase WBW, and I think it what was Theo yelled at Grady as he fired him.

or re-read my post a few posts upthread.

Little has Timlin intentionally walk Sierra with 2 out in the eighth.  Boone runs for Sierra - the rest is history

Timlin had 3 8th inning holds

Williamson had 3 9th inning saves

in that series.

Why Grady deviated from that successful duo by overworking an obviously spent Pedro remains a mystery to all but Grady and kid.

"Timlin in the 8th, Williamson in the 9th"

Kid glad I could explain the meaning of some Sox lore to you and ease your confusion.

I think a good guess sees Nick Johnson get on vs Timlin, then we are in the soup anyway with Jeter up, Giambi looming later that inning.

Well, you had the adoring masses and (eventual series) results on your side.

Congrats - and watch out for that peel in the future.....

I find that reason, logic and facts work best in a discussion.

You should try it.

Wrong again Timmy.

Manager's are paid to manage, even HoF pitchers.

Grady mismanaged.

And Pedro knew he was done after 7, that he was kept in for 5 batters in the 8th was managerial malpractice.

There was no logic in that.

None.

But I understand you are not bright enough to understand either the responsibilities of management, nor secure enough to admit you might be wrong.
