If the issue is gun control remember that in a country of hundreds of millions of adults and even a larger number of guns the number of people killed  by guns is minuscule.

People care about deaths that are preventable.  It is why we have meat inspection, order the removal of lead water pipes, require belts and airbags and other auto safety features, etc.  Any of those causes of death would be tiny in proportion to US population, but unlike natural causes from aging they are preventable.  Because Australia restricted gun ownership to legitimate uses by people with no history of mental illness or violence, the crazy man at the mall could be driven back by a man with a bollard, and deaths were a fraction of what they would be with an AR15.

I have no problem with gun ownership by sane people without criminal history, who wish to hunt venison or responsibly keep a home protection gun in a properly secured location.  I see no second amendment threat in required background checks or required formal training in gun handling and storage.  These are certainly required for any well-regulated militia.

Well then you should be relieved to know, by all statistics, only one per cent of US gun owners use them to kill other people.  In addition nearly all gun purchasers are subject to background checks and training.

Approximately 72,000,000 million gun owners in USA. If one percent use their guns to kill other people then statistically 720,000 motherfuckers kill other people with guns.

Realistically the number of gun deaths runs about 48,000.

Not even close.
The Census bureau puts our population at 330 million with about 258 million 18 and over.
Gun ownership is estimated at 393 million, or about 120 guns for every 100 people.
Total gun deaths per year run just under 50 k with 54% suicides, 43% murders, and 3 per cent  related to accidental incidents, police action, or and those that cannot be categorized.

Larry put some relevant statistics in context. You rattled off statistics without explicit context but in an order and emphasis that strongly suggest you have little clue as to what any of it means and some plum ideas you do hold are in fact dead wrong.

As the brains of conservatives further degrade over time it is useful to have one or two of them vivisected here so we can map the disfunction and work out a treatment for the manageable cases and a harm reduction regimen for those far along as Red.

Christians in Sydney's west have gone beserk overnight after a teen allegedly stabbed a prominent bishop and another man during a service at an Assyrian church.
An angry mob of thousands injuring police, smashing up more than 30 police cars. Mob broke into houses to gain weapons to throw at police.
Emotional response by the community to the stabbing of bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel as he delivered  live-streamed mass at Christ The Good Shepherd Church.

The 15 yr old alleged stabber was known to police and was not a member of the congregation.
Police arrested the teen at the scene but were forced to barricade themselves inside the church for several hours "for his safety".

The live-stream mass followed in countries including the US and UK.

On the issue of Iran, we have been working on missile defense for the last 40 years and we have made a lot of progress, and we can jam and crash the drones, we have shown that we can save lives in Israel from foreign attacks there. So, then we can deal with things in our own way, and in our own time, on our own terms, etc. And we have good leaders at the United Nations.

And Bambu, on the news on television they talked about the criminal there in Australia, and they just said he was a mentally ill guy.

We have made a lot of progress in the Middle East, as Arafat is gone now, and Saddam Husein is gone, and Osama Bin Laden is gone, a lot of bad people are gone now.

And we have the CIA, and we can know what people are doing and who to hold accountable, etc.

We also need to send the Peace Corps into Afghanistan, and into Iraq, etc, and we need to build schools, and we need to educate the women, and we need to feed the hungry, and we can build hospitals, etc. We can do good work that can promote peace in the world. We need to invest in having peace and in raising the level of civilization. And we can work for improved women's rights, and we can educate the people, and they can all read "Animal Farm" by George Orwell, etc. And we can make movies and television shows with meaning to better educate and teach the people of the Middle East, I met a fillmmaker who wanted to make movies in Turkey to be shown in the Middle East, etc, and if you can change how people think and feel then you can change how they behave. And we need to bring back the power of Athens and Rome in the Middle East, with peace and lots of trade, etc, and libraries and schools, etc.

And we need to have peace and friendship with China, and we have Muzi who attended Harvard. Muzi needs to do an interview with National Lampoon to be published in Playboy Magazine. And Mahlagha Jaberi can do a pictorial in Playboy to promote improved human rights for the women of Iran.

Salute,

Tony V.

This is a big fucking deal

https://thetechtribune.com/california-achieves-record-streak-of-100-renewable-energy-days/

We are getting there.  I think the big challenges will be refining the technology to where nations with severe winters like Canada will be able to reach that kind of milestone.  May depend on GS (ground source) heat pumps, improved grid distribution, and trading energy peak outputs with the US.

Only if the wind blows and the Sun is always shining.   That does not happen even  in California  and certainly nowhere  elsewhere in the USA.

The wind does blow and the Sun is always shining. It just never shines on you, you disgusting loathsome reprobate.

You can burn your Exxon stock certificates to stay warm next winter. The country is once again moving on without you. As always it is a Big Fucking Deal.

Psychologist is quoted in the DT as saying "He knew what he was doing, he was bad not mad.

The 'bad people' I keep talking about.
They're armed, this time with  large hunting knife, seeking out women and children as his victims.

The church attack last night, the stabbing of the Christian bishop...has just been labelled by the Police Commissioner as a terror attack.
Where are my guns?
Oh, I'm not allowed to have any.

"Bollard man" in the Bondi stabbing rampage, who stood up to the killer, is French national Damien Guerot.

The killer is accused of targeting women and children, a group of children playing near the top of the escalator.
"Bollard man" saved their lives, for sure and certain.

Albo has told Mr Guerot he's welcome to Australian citizenship immediately, can stay in Australia as long as he likes.
