OT was the pick, and it was the guy the former G-Men OLs were highest on.
What happens to Solder, does he move to RT now?

A scout's evaluation
« Reply #91 on: April 23, 2020, 09:01:25 PM »

When I look at who Dave Gettleman has drafted in the past at the offensive tackle position, Thomas looks like that guy. Big, thick, long-armed and really physical. He is a really fun player to watch when he’s pissed off. He moves guys in to another zip code as a run blocker, he really gets after guys in space, and he finishes.

The issues here are two-fold. His effort isn’t consistent and that is the number one red flag. In the intense moments, big games…etc Thomas gets after it. But too many times throughout the past two seasons I saw a guy that simply tried to get by on talent. The second issue, he looks like a train wreck in pass protection at times. He struggles to reach his point against speed and he shows his numbers to the ground too often. While his power and reach can partially make up for it, he simply needs to get better there or he will get eaten alive by the top end pass rushers. I’ll end with this: Thomas at his absolute best is better than Wirfs and Wills. But do you want to gamble on his work ethic and lack of athletic ability?

I dont worry about the ethic - he knows this is the PROS now and that wont be tolerated  - and if he can play RT I am also fine with that if he whiffs on the left - though if he does and isnt best in his division on the right - was he a good pick at 4?  Thats what I was saying with taking the skill player or frek D guy

.  Open those holes for the big dog and you'll be fine, son.

Xavier McKinney is still there also. If he is still there at 35, what would it take.to get the Giants to move back to 41? Asking for a friend.

Modified because I suck at math.

3rd rounder would likely do it.

Excellent second round pick for Giants.  Safety McKinney from Bama (good call, Steve-o)

I wonder if CLE did try to deal up

Winfield still there.

Now...  about that pass rusher....

A couple WRs and a RB taken G-Men on the board went for a Safety, a huge need.  Of course, lots of needs on this team.  x The first safety taken of the draft.  Delpit's injuries might've been a concern.  Gross-Matos gets taken two picks later.   LOOOOONG wait to pick #99.

OC and WR are still big needs.  Looks like Giants won't have an EDGE rusher this year either.   Maybe the plan is to build the Offense to a Top 10 level and focus on D next offseason.

Gettleman says Giants made up their mind if McKinney was there, they were taking him. If he was gone, they had a deal in place to trade down.

Mel Kiper had him in the first rd. #15

Nah...

looks like they did ok.

Though Winfield (to Bucs) could be the best of the 4 safeties just picked

Jets take Ashtyn Davis (Safety) with the 68 pick acquired from the Giants in the Leonard Williams trade.

Biadasz would be a good C pick at 99.

OL depth.   RT of the future.

They must like Spencer/Halapio and even Gates to play C

OR maybe they think a C falls to 110.
