yup

I was just presenting a fact-based contra-take to the troll's cut and paste hot takz.

I don't think the troll watched the game.

As it seems his hot takz always seems the same, the Pats cheated, the game was fixed,

I see the Boston Cartel has rushed in here to continue the lies and protect the "legacy" of the most morally maligned franchise in NFL history.

Note "Goodreads" fails to provide a source for that quote. Like Einstein's supposed quote about the fourth World War, that "quote" is from none of Nietzsche's published or unpublished works.  In other words, he never said it.  Nice try, though.  Maybe you can try and play your "intellectual card" elsewhere?

But more to the point, if you think football is fixed and the refs are paid off why do you continue to watch and bore everyone here this time every year?

Exactly right. There is no 'fix'. It's just poor refereeing. People make mistakes and nodody is perfect.

But give the devil his due, that even though Nietzsche never said that I have to admit it's a snappy little ditty.

One such illusion is that Nietzsche actually said that.  Thanks for the "quote" though!!!!

No, Nietzsche didn't say it. You can look it up in his works, yourself.
Doesn't sound
like something Ray Nietzche would say

He may have said, 'Sometimes people don't hear the snap count and get their quarterback destroyed.'

Fun facts on the Chiefs last TD drive (that took them to a 28-24 lead with 2 minutes left)

...

a 40 yard gain on an obvious pick play that everyone, including an incredulous Romo, saw, but it escaped the refs attention (BB smashed his tablet on this play)

...

I know I saw it.

Bill needs to control himself btw. That's probably gonna come out of his pay.

You can do the research yourself.

The quote, "Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions destroyed" is, at least on the Internet, often attributed to Nietzsche, e.g., goodreads, Simple Reminders, IHeartIntelligence, and all over Pinterest.

However, I cannot find any evidence for the attribution in Complete Works of Friedrich Nietzsche (Delphi Classics) or using Advanced Search on Google Books, with the search parameters, "Find results with all of the words" and "inauthor:Nietzsche" {search results}.

In addition, both QuoteFail and Wikiquotes question the attribution.

Nietzsche did write, "For the historical audit brings so much to light which is false and absurd, violent and inhuman, that the condition of pious illusion falls to pieces." 1

In the same essay he wrote, "... 'he who destroys illusions in himself and others is punished by the ultimate tyrant, Nature.'" 2

As far as I can tell, QuoteFail has it right: "This quote appears to have been created within the Tumblr-verse."

The funniest part about the page is this:

I'd be interested in knowing the source of this quote/idea as well. As Dakdeer suggests (I think), it is probably a fairly universal idea that has been espoused by a number of people. The most familiar is Jack Nicholson growling "You can't handle the truth!" – David Blomstrom Dec 10 '17 at 16:40

Maybe, maybe not.

But as you can see Nietzsche never actually said that. At best it might be a loose interpreted extrapolation of some of his writings.

Having been required to read about 80% of everything Nietzsche said in undergrad, there is one thing I am positive he said that I find directly relevant today: "You are boring the shit out of me. Stop feeding the fucking troll." That is from, if I recall correctly, Human All to Human, the Walter Kauffman translation.

boz

i recall shortly after Clemson disemboweled the Sons of Bear Bryant, in the Student-Athlete Football championship, I had a brief conversation with your buddy Deej. who initially insisted the game was closer than the blowout it was. (a 28 pt win), and he cherry picked some stats which were quickly and easily debunked and the debate was for all intents and purposes over. Clemson kicked their ass, no ifs and or buts, whether it was really a 21 point win or a 35 point win. There was Bear carcass  all over Santa Clara.

Having said that I would argue that anyone watching the AFC championship OT game could successfully argue based on the voluminous game stats that the game was not as close as the scoreboard indicated.

Pats pitched a 14-0 shutout in the 1st half and it could have and should have been worse.

The 2nd half was closer and was marred by some calls/non-calls, and a fucking gift TD that briefly gave a led to the Chiefs, but justice prevailed and the better team won.

And the game stats, clearly showed that domination.

Below is a link to the game stats, they're worth a look.

they pretty much spell out how dominant the pats were, but also the expensive cost of turnovers.

Troll's sad story is always the same, the Pats cheated/the game was fixed.

he appears to be the only one who can't handle the truth.

I've often wondered why you seemed to disdain anyone else that mentioned Nietzsche. Your above post is most enlightening. And being most learned as you are in everything Friedrich the following should be relevant to your post.

The advantages of psychological observation. That meditating on things human, all too human (or, as the learned phrase goes, “psychological observation”) is one of the means by which man can ease life’s burden; that by exercising this art, one can secure presence of mind in difficult situations and entertainment amid boring surroundings; indeed, that from the thorniest and unhappiest phases of one’s own life one can pluck maxims and feel a bit better thereby.
