I thought that i had posted through to the playoffs. I see i was mistaken. I am keeping those picks in, despite being monstrously wrong on a couple.
Saturday, Dec. 28

Wasabi Fenway Bowl
UConn vs. North Carolina

It is the wrong sport for a game between these two schools to be interesting. Well, except that the UNC program is the major off the field story of the post season and there is a sense that the UNC players are auditioning for Belichick. Fun fact, both teams are being coached by failed pro coaches for this game. Yukon is not far in years terms from being one of the worst teams in CFB, so nice job building the program. I look for Mora the same from them. UConn

Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl
Boston College vs. Nebraska

The named sponsor of this game is evidence that American men have the need to turn even yard work into a dick measuring contest. Another refuge of failed NFL coaches game. Nebraska has a very good run defense, which matches up well with BC, especially after they benched their starting QB. Nebraskas wunderkind QB hit a wall about eight games in, but he has had time to recalibrate. Nebraska

Isleta New Mexico
Louisiana vs. TCU

The Tiwa name for the Isleta Pueblo translates to Knife Laid on the Ground to Play Slots, or something similar. TCU rebounded nicely towards the end of the year, and has displayed a pretty good offense. Although the last time we saw them in the post season they were a grease spot under the wheels of Georgia. TCU

Pop-Tarts Bowl
Miami * vs. Iowa State

With Cam Ward deciding not to opt out, and Damien Martinez going against a mediocre ISU run defense, I am pretty sure the U can score a lot. The problem is, the U has not shown the ability to not keep games close, and ISU does have some pretty good receivers. Most U games have been interesting thrill rides, and this one should be no different. Miami

Snoop Dog Arizona Bowl presented by Gin and Juice by Dre and Snoop
Colorado State vs. Miami **

Seriously, will this be the first game in history where you will be disqualified if you pass a drug test? One of my staff just got her daughter accepted to CSU, where she will major in Equine Science which is apparently a thing you can major in at CSU. They are going up against an offensively challenged defensively stout Miami team that looked awful the one game I saw much of. Plus, I think I have mentioned before that when in doubt pick the MAC to lose. Colorado State

Go Bowling Military Bowl
East Carolina vs. NC State

NC State has no real offense to speak of, and East Carolina had its best success with failed ex Spartan Katin Houser as its QB. I have seen him play and I have zero confidence in his ability to beat a decent defense. NC State

Valero Alamo Bowl
BYU vs. Colorado

I realize it is a brave new world for college football, but something is wrong when you get a bowl game involving two teams from the same conference. Right up until the afternoon of November 23, this was going to be the matchup for the Pure Prairie League Championship game. The talent is with Colorado in Sanders and Hunter, so that is where my money lies. Colorado

Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl
Marshall  Louisiana Tech vs. Army

Apparently, the bowl ran through 15 of the 16 eligible 5 and 7 teams before hitting on the Lady Techsters. Which means either we turned this down, or were last. Army against Marshall would have had some interesting potential puns, and could have been an interesting game, but so much of the team hit the portal when their coach took a very, very odd alternative coaching job, one that was sort of a demotion which really makes you wonder what exactly is going on with Marshall. I think Army has no problems winning this one. Army

Monday, Dec. 30

Transperfect Music City Bowl
Iowa vs. Missouri

Not just  perfect, fabulous. Misery was the only God Apostrophe S Conference three loss nine win teams not getting talked up for the playoffs. That this is going to be a defensive showdown is a given. Misery

Tuesday, Dec. 31

ReliaQuest Bowl
Meatchicken vs.  Alabama

My teams have first hand experience with Alabama when they felt shunned in the playoffs back in the Satan days and it is not pretty. Props to Meatchicken to turning their season around, and they still have a very good defense, but Alabama is the better team and Meatchicken has QB issues that it cannot resolve before the game. Alabama

Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl
Washington vs. Louisville

Louisville will be without the much travelled Tyler Shough of Despond who is entering the draft, as is their top receiver. The good news for Washington is that their QB is playing. The bad news is their QB is still Will Rogers. Washington

Cheez it Citrus Bowl
Illinois vs. South Carolina

Cheez Its are a horrible combination with any citrus. Who comes up with these names? Illinois had a fine season, but SoCar has been the best team in God Apostrophe S Conference for the last month and have the man who will be runner up to Aiden Chiles for the Heisman next year in LaNorris Sellers. South Carolina

Kinders Texas Bowl
Baylor vs. LSU

Singular, this game would have been Bueno. Plural, it will be spicy. Brian Kelly will be coaching LSU, so. Baylor

And Then We Have the Second Round of the Playoffs

Vrbo Fiesta Bowl
The Pennsylvania State University vs. The Boise State

An interesting matchup, really. No one has been able to slow down Jeanty, let alone stop him. The PSU defense is probably the best he has faced all year, though. I think the PSU can control the game with their ground game, and Allar is good enough to put up points, even without stellar wide outs. The Pennsylvania State University

Wednesday Jan. 1

Chik Fil A Peach Bowl
Texas vs. The Arizona State University

Down their best wide out, ASU is even more dependent on Cam Skattebo. I would love to see more of ASU, and I think all of you east coasters who are asleep when they play should see more of them and Skattebo, but I just cannot take them over that Texas Defense. Texas

Rose Bowl Presented by Prudential
The Ohio State vs, Oregon

Can I just say how happy I am that this match up is the Rose Bowl? A touch of an old tradition that the modern business of CFB has left by the wayside. Anyway, this is a rematch of a really good game played at Oregon. Oregon has been the best team all year, but the has the best skill position players in the nation, really on both sides of the ball. I only worry about their offensive front. I think the Meatchicken game was a wake up call. the Ohio State

Allstate Sugar Bowl
Our Lady of the Perpetual Tie vs. Georgia

A few series worth of work against one of the best defenses in CFL is not really what I should judge Gunner Stockton on, but the only other thing I really have to go on is the epic QB name. He looked better with his legs than his arm, and a one dimensional team is going to struggle bigly with a team like Our Lady of the Perpetual Tie. Which is also one dimensional offensively, but that is their design. My dislike of chalk is combatting with my respect for the Georgia defense, and winning. Our Lady of the Perpetual Tie

Thursday, Jan. 2

Taxpayer Gator Bowl
Duke vs. Old Mississippi

Well, this would have been a better game if Maalick Murphy had not headed to Beavertown, although I have to admit Henry Belin IV just sounds exactly like I picture a Duke student being. You never know with Kiffin on the sidelines, and Duke can pressure the QB and the last time I saw Dart throw he was either deliberately trying to lose or he just sucked under pressure, but this should be Old Mississippi s game to lose. Old Mississippi

Friday, Jan. 3

Servpro First Responder Bowl
North Texas vs. Texas State

Well, someones QB is in the portal, but frankly between the time I looked it up and typing this up, I forgot which. North Texas gives up a lot of points and TSU scores a lot. Or vice versa because again I did not retain that information between reading it and typing this. If you are getting the impression that I do not know much about this bowl game and care even less, you would be correct. Texas State. I think.

Duke's Mayo Bowl
Virginia Tech vs. Minnesota

The very thought of a bowl of mayo makes me want to vomit. Minnesota

Saturday, Jan. 4

Bahamas Bowl
Buffalo vs. Liberty

I have never picked Liberty to win anything and I never will, no matter how wrong that makes me. Jerry Falwell rots in Hell. Buffalooooo

Sunday, January 5

Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl
Mount Union vs. North Central

The Mount is seeking its first championship under a coach not named Kehres, and their first since 2017. North Central has played in the last five Stagg Bowls, and really blew the doors off a good Susq well, fuck it if I cannot spell it they deserve to lose. Anyway, Mount Union

Monday, January 6

FCS Championship Game
The North Dakota State vs. The Montana State

The NDS has won this game 9 times since 2010. Time for someone else. The Montana State

* Florida
** Ohio

Russians were wise to remove "the" from their language.  It can so often be abused.

The Nebraska has always tended towards strong difficult-for-opponents-to-decipher defense.  With or without bad boy lawnmowers.  I remember attending a couple games in the late seventies (students got in free), and following others where the standard visitor score was 6.  Can't say if that was the defensive PPG average, but it felt that way.

Wait.  ASU was the higher seed with a first round bye!
Tell that to Kiffin.

Speaking of the games proving people stupid:

Not even close. There are never any teams beyond the top four worthy of the title National Champion
For all the other also rans we have Bowl Games as a reward.

Two of the four teams in the final four would not have been in a 4 team playoff.

And your point is what?
All I ever argued was a 12 team (selected by a committee)crap shoot playoff is in no way a better way to select the team of the year than a four team playoff( selected by a Committee )

No your argument was, and I quote,"There are never any teams beyond the top four worthy of the title National Champion For all the other also rans we have Bowl Games as a reward." Two teams beyond the top 4 are in the four team field already, teams that would have been outside of a four team playoff.

Quite an appropriate final four by historical standards in college football.
OHIO STATE
TEXAS
PENNSTATE
NOTRE DAME

Trump will surely be in attendance for the final.
