I am posting the entire opinion from a guest writer at the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.

The statistical analysis in the article is correct.  Jackson quoted a mathematically flawed claim.  All of which is irrelevant to the larger public good that derives from having more Black physicians.  Which is explained, with more accurate math, here:

https://www.cnn.com/2023/02/21/health/black-doctors-shortage-us/index.html
The math that is more telling:
80 per cent of black families are single parent, mostly women.
Medical school is unreachable for many black kids since they are needed to work from high school on so the family can survive.
So how do you intend to correct that, or do you envision a permanent future with an African American underclass?
I have no idea on a fix for the breakup of the nuclear family.
But it certainly is not affirmative action since it does not address the problem.
Yes, it does, by working on the underlying issues of poverty that leads to the breakup of families and the need for second incomes.
How do you do that?

College fund for children of families in poverty, with active outreach to poor communities.  Maybe incentive bonus or tuition extended to graduate programs (like med school) to graduates who come back and serve their communities for a certain duration.  You could combine the best features of AA and reparations while also helping those in rural poverty ( rural areas are especially struggling with poverty and lack of professional services).
None of which addresses the plight  of single parent families.
Yes it does, in the long term.
How?

50 years  + of the GREAT SOCIETY may have its benefits from government assistance, but how do more transfer payments help restore families to economic health?

The government of The Netherlands has collapsed.

The collapse of the government comes as asylum applications to the country increased by a third in 2022 to 46,000 and projections expect over 70,000 more to come this year, the most since the 2015 European Migrant Crisis under a previous Rutte government.

Boy, sure glad nothing like that is happening here.

We kicked our right wing squatter out three years ago. The Netherlands are a bit behind the times. England will be next.

One day I may meet a good Catholic. I know plenty who are one or the other.
Hello.

Howdy to you and also howdy Mrs. Can.

To me meeting someone still implies doing it in meat space.

No sardines for you.
That does not help single parent families either.

Dunning-Kruger gives red all the authority he needs to make such statements.

Bleat on, red, like it is your god given right.

Wow a giant reverse, dont think you will find paradise in Europe. USA has not had proper leadership for the past six years but it is coming as the elderly extremists fade away. This open door thing is a killer though.

Do you ever get tired of being a one trick pony.

One parent families....
Free Family Planning Centres...free, no payment at all, advice (non-judgemental) for all, adults, teens, tweens, regarding...well everything.
Male doctors, female doctors, information/advice/counselling...sex, contraception, family planning...they've seen and heard it all.
...might help.

Indeed.
It's the fault of the "everyone in the world is a lovely person, and deserves a free house, free everything"...not the first clue leftists who live in 'fairyland'.
They, there, also refused to listen...as to what would happen if they went down the massive, 'swamping' ('overrunning' if you like) multicultural or not, integrating or not, immigration.
Usually, asylum seekers are not rich and need housing, everything provided for them free.

Racist you say.
In America, you too, have to pay for all the asylum-seekers...no exemption for being Black.
All the free housing, free everything to be provided for them, is coming out of, your, taxes.
"Govts have no money, they only have money they raise in taxes" - No 1 radio host.
I say Americans first...social/free housing for Americans already struggling, homeless...first.

Netherlands tried the "everyone in the world can come and live in Netherlands for a better life" idea.
Idea failed miserably, now the country is broke, kaput, collapsed.

Seems to be a lot of slow-learners in Europe.
