On the subject of drinking at sporting events, it looks like MLB fans are far more restrained than fans of other sports, with the exception of the NCAA fans, but given the latter group's ages, that's a good thing.

https://www.lines.com/nfl/game-day-drinking-which-sports-fan-consume-the-most-alcohol-560

Philly fans are 50% more likely to binge drink during a game than Boston fans and nearly double as likely to smoke pot during a game.

Not that they are at the top, by any means, but the Boston fans are near the bottom. Puritanism, I'm sure, will be the claim, rather than that the fans just might actually care more about the game than getting plastered or stoned.

I was interested to note that almost everybody drinks more at the game than at home.

Sometimes you do get the breaks

https://fansided.com/2021/10/11/ron-kulpa-red-sox-terrible-call-wander-franco/?a_aid=41091&fbclid=IwAR2SuE7I-yY-EeEIQ3clDRMtyY5vhnFzhzex1erkMMgNW4M-zmuS5p9AHCw

That was an awful call.

But I've hated the balls and strikes calling throughout the postseason and during much of the year, as I have previously noted.

And I don't know if Culpa has something against Franco, but I am sure some umps have issues with individual players, teams, races, etc.

HamilSam -

who do you have winning it all?

Dodgers certainly not looking like their best self.

I am pulling for Chicago, then Milwaukee.  Each could end today.

The team that pitches the best and plays the best D and has the most depth usually wins.

Which looks like SFG.

If they beat LA, they will win it all with an older squad of dudes who just know how to play the game.

Then again, they have Gabe The Meddler Kaplan managing.

Where it began, I can't begin to knowing
But then I know they've played so long
They won in the spring
But spring turned to a bummer
Who'd have believed they'd again turn Boston strong?
Hands, swinging bats, throw balls
Reaching out, to crooked umps, getting calls

Sweet Hamilton
Good times never seemed so good

so good

so good

That was almost an amazing catch by the Brewers' 3rd baseman from the catcher!

That they are calling the batter out is beyond me.

Red Sox and White Sox - 0 (0%)
Red Sox and Astros - 3 (50%)
Rays and White Sox - 2 (33.3%)
Rays and Astros - 1 (16.7%)

Three of us called it right for both teams. One other of us got the Astros.

Time for the next poll!

Because it is not reviewable?!

What kind of bs is that?!

There's a fine example of a rule that needs changing a whole lot faster than the pinball rule.

Bullock has prayed for the fire to fall on the American government and for God to remove the fraudulent government leaders from the nation, so that the world may breathe.

Astros and Sox again.

This time they host us to start.

Sox got to knock them down

and knock them down

and knock them down again.

They'll thanks us eventually.

Because as many Texans are learning its better to get knocked down than knocked up in Texas.

had to

That was almost an amazing catch by the Brewers' 3rd baseman from the catcher!

That they are calling the batter out is beyond me.

What happened?

Pop foul near the stands.

Catcher almost catches it, but it bounces out of his glove toward the field.

Third baseman dives and appears to have caught the ball before it hit the ground.

Batter called out.

His manager objects. The umps talk together and then put headsets on.

The replays clearly show the ball hit the ground.

The call stands because it is not a reviewable play, even though the truth is visible to all concerned.

The good news is that it seems to have no impact on the outcome of the game. The player called out was for the team that won.

But... how can that not be reversed or reviewed?!
