Checked in on Okoro's stats, since I'm not really planning to watch Cavs ball.
His offensive numbers are predictably low, just 8 points on 42 / 30 / 70.
Low but not abysmal, all on fairly low volume.

But the thing that stands out is his home FG%'s are very good his road shooting terrible.
Home:  44% / 39% / 75%
Road:   40% / 19% / 65%

Again, low volume.  3 treys and 4 two's per game, 1.7 FT's.
But those Home numbers are surprisingly good.
Perhaps more getting used to the grind, learning the pro life, etc. could make a big difference.  It's even odder since this year the Road advantage has been pretty limited, with few or no fans, players not able to go out and party.  No idea why Okoro has been comfortable at Home and not Away.
But those Home splits are definitely cause for some offensive optimism.

I have trouble getting the Search function to help much.  But TyH sounded better than Vassell, but seemed like he might be gone.

I did run across this gem:

I like Cavs this year

Sexton
Garland
Osman
Love
Drummond

The only response is really

Heh

3 of them have been quite good, one injured, the 5th having a not so great time of it.

I started skimming from Page 930 on.
To do the kidd-style quote my past self routine:

Quote
I still think a hefty offer to FVV could/would work.
Say $24M.  Probably too much for TOR to match.
And FVV would have to think hard and long about turning down that kind of money and a chance to run his own team
.  So what if it's a $6M overpay.  We'd have a legit starting PG (and one less $6M bench player).  If Fred is on board, you could structure it starting at $25M and dropping $1M a year.

Quote
* Here's an unlikely hypo:
Would folks be willing to trade Mitch & the #8 pick to GSW for the #2 pick?
NYK would get Ball or Edwards, a blue chip G.
We'd lose a very promising young defensive C to move up.

GSW would get a long defensive cog and rim assaulter.
Mitch could look terrific there.  A Mitch-Dray backline.
And they'd still get to draft a Vassell, Haliburton, Hayes type offender.
Could be a good deal for both teams.
Provided Knix hit on the pick and get a future AS type.
Mitch & Vassell for Ball. Or Mitch & TyH for Edwards. Some permutation like that.
With the cupboard bare, can Knix afford to do a 2-for-1 to upgrade at G?
Any takers?

With modification:
Quote
#2 pick & Looney for #8 & Mitch
Would give us a C replacement.

If that goes too far, could be:
#2 pick & Chriss = #8 & Mitch

Would've been visionary to get LaMelo ...

I was a TyH booster throughout the draft run up, but thought he would be gone by #8.  I had some Vassell flirtation, but partly if we could get Bogdanovich as FA, a similar player to TyH.  When Avidja dropped, I was intrigued, but had never really checked him out assuming he was Top 6.

(And I always admit I'm no draftnik -- just do some basic reading up and watching one 3 min clip on most prospects top prospects.  I never supported any late 1st /early 2nd round PG, as I never even researched any of them, just read the barest of summaries on them)

So kiid, you've come around on Halliburton?  Didn't you say there was no way he was a Top 8 player earlier?

I still like Ty H.  A shooter with some playmaking ability so can handle some PG.  Seems to have a good feel on the court. A bit slight for D.  From the little I saw, he reminded me of Rodney Hood (who for whatever reason hasn't reached his potential).  Another comp would be Sacto's Bogdanovich who we might be considering in FA.

If we could nab Bogdanovic in FA and draft Vassal, that would really change the character of our team.  Enter the modern NBA era.  We'd still be looking for a PG -- but could draft one with the #27 or try to move up around the #20 pick to get a better selection.  Lotta interesting PG's projected to go from 18 on down.  Easier and less costly to move up near the bottom of the draft

That's my plan.
I'd also be fine with throwing lots of money at FVV and adding Okongwu (or Vassal).  FVV and Okongwu would toughen us up immediately.  Another change for the better.  And guys Thibs would like, guys who stick their nose in and make folks uncomfortable.  [then grab best shooter available at #27, Bey or whomeva]

Nice article on the resurrection of Nic Batum.
Always liked him, thought he had some Grant Hill in him.
Liked when CHA signed him, but he had trouble living up to the big contract and being the man.  But a smart heady player with good D who can shoot and pass.  High-level glue guy.  3rd in minutes on an aspiring Clips team.

https://www.espn.in/nba/story/_/id/31179271/nicolas-batum-needed-clippers-just-much-needed-him
Interesting how the French Connection reached out once Batum was waived, with Gobert recruiting him to UTA (woulda been a great fit), Pony Tarker calling him on behalf of Coach Bud in MIL (the Spurs/Pops network).  And on LAC, Batum teamed up with long time French national Ibaka.

I found this a little odd.  2/3rds into the season and PG13 anoints newcomer/reserve Rondo as team leader:

Quote
Rondo's a leader, you know the point guard, he's a leader," George said. "We're going to listen to him. I look at him as a leader, a leader of this group. He'll hold a lot of weight. He holds a lot of weight in the locker room. As he gets more comfortable within our system, getting games under his feet, he'll hold us accountable. That's what you need in the locker room, somebody that's going to say what needs to be said and get us going."

Doesnt that kind of say that Kawhi isn't a leader.  And neither is Paul George.
And the lockerroom isnt what it should be?
To say Rondo will be a help or a good vet presence is fine, but to declare him the team leader out of the gate seems pretty odd, hearkening back to last year's troubles, apparently continuing.

Otherwise guys named Terence in California are killing it.
Check out T Mann for LAC.  Just dynamic and active on both ends.

While Sacto recently picked up T Davis from TOR for a 2nd rounder.
Dude scored 27 in 23 mins v. MIL ... 7-10 on 3's.
And was active on D.

Quite a revelation.  Was buried in TOR.
Made the all-rook team last year after going undrafted.
Looks like a giveaway.

NBofA Trivia:

There are 9 players who are a franchise's career leader in both Points and Assists.  Who are they?

Hint: 2 of the 9 are currently active players.

Another active player is set to make it an even Ten, once he scores 130 more points this season.  Who dat?

Flynn's been getting playing time lately, with TOR's season cratering.  22 & 11 both career highs.

But damn Trent shot 17-19 for 44 points.
I thought that was a great pickup for the Raps.  Trent is a shooter.

Lowry has been out

Brandon Goodwin subbed for Trae Young today and put up a nice line in a win - 15 and 8, I think

Most teams have pretty good short term depth

Like Mal Flynn, Goodwin is small and has terrible numbers for the season.  But Goodwin had a fine game (17/8/5) in a good win.  Very composed, and 3-6 on 3's.  Terrific spot start; stayed on court for 37 mins.
Bogdanovic filled in on O for Trae, bombing in 8-16 3's, including one 35' edge of the centercourt logo that had the CHA announcers plotzing.

Saw 1st half replay of TOR-CLE.  TRent was flamethrowing.  Few assisted 3's.  Flynn looked tiny out there.  Had Love on a switch early and zoomed right by Kev for a layup.  But twice Flynn was blocked badly inside on drives.  Had another nice inside dish, and another attempted dish that became a turnover.  Popped a 3.  Must have done most of his damage 2nd half after TOR had a huge lead following an 87 point 1st half!  Looked okay, varying between solid and rookie jitters.
But his size is an issue on both ends.

Goodwin likewise had defensive trouble given his stature.
Both I only saw play one half of hoops, and was an early career game for both.  Not easy being a rookie 6'0" PG asked to start.
