https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30528130/james-harden-houston-rockets-breaking-point
More on HOU's implosion.  All this probably wouldn't come out if Harden didn't demand a trade.

Morey knew when to bail.  Smart guy.
Philly is a bit of a tricky situation, but a nice challenge with a competitive team.

Dantmanbee probably the perfect Harden coach -- max offensive freedom, not much concern with D, and lax on discipline.

I still think letting Capela go was a mistake.
And Wall is a helluva gamble.  I thought he was a player who wouldn't age well, before he got injured.  Because his game relied so much on speed.

I doubt Kyrie and KD can work together and lead a team.
Kyrie already being an ass saying that he and KD are the coach as much as Nash, and not talking with the media, even before the season starts.  A difficult customer who can certainly score like mad.  But I'd love to see the Nets add Harden (where he wants to go).  Kyrie, Harden and KD.  The crackup would be exquisite.

What a Finals that would be vs Lakers

HOU would be mighty good with LaVert and Dinwiddie added.

Lovin John Wall.

Who was the last Center to average over 30 points per game in a season?

Kareem?

Does it tie in with AD's attempt somehow?

Last Center to average 30+ PPG = Moses Malone back in 1982.

Shaq led the league with 29.67 in 2000 & David Robinson 29.79 in '94.

And a new Q:

Last year Harden and Beal both averaged over 30 a game.
The last season in which more than one player averaged over 30 a game was back in 2006 when 3 players did so.  Who were those 3?

Anyone want to try that Q?

Oh...

Towns,

OK.

Interesting - KAT topped (last year) at 26.5 while Davis has twice hit for 28+

Hmmm...

to what end?

Lead them?  Of course that duo will LEAD the Nets.

Are you you citing a lower win total than their expectation?  An earlier exit than round 2?  3?  What, exactly?

This site here says OVER 45-27

https://medium.com/sportsraid/nba-eastern-conference-2021-over-under-win-totals-knicks-nets-celtics-raptors-giannis-hawks-pacers-raptors-c2d41b099aa

(and has Knicks under 21.5 - heh)

All 15 East teams listed, with reasoning

edit -   they are actually LEAST confident in the Nets over 45 and Knicks under 21.5.  Not advocating either.

KAT is a career 40% 3-baller.
And the last 3 years has shot 40% or better.
The writer thinks KAT will jack more than last year's 8 3's per game.
Gifted scorer.

Their best bet:

1. Atlanta Hawks — UNDER 35.5
I fully expected to be in on the Hawks this season. Trae Young was an All-NBA caliber player already last year, but the rest of Atlanta’s roster was a disaster. They had no backup point guard, no center, no defense, and no real talent other than half a season of John Collins. This year they’ll get more Collins and then add Clint Capela, Danilo Gallinari, and Bogdan Bogdanovic to the mix.
Even if you don’t think those guys are great, it’s a huge upgrade to turn over that many replacement-level minutes to rotation guys. The problem is we’re also overlooking just how terrible Atlanta was and how far they have to come. The defense is still terrible, and the Hawks played at a 24-win pace last year. This line means .500 ball, and that’s just a bridge too far for a young team we know little about.
I’m not even sure the Hawks are good enough to make the play-in games, and I don’t see them winning if they do get there. I’ve got Atlanta as my East 12-seed, ahead of only the Hornets, Knicks, and Cavs — and that’s after factoring in a significant 10-win improvement.
Sorry, Atlanta fans. Winning is hard

A very well-written piece.

Big money for unproven guys, mostly guys who have had one good year.
Kennard, White, Onunoby.
Fultz's money is crazy.
