Freedom loving socialist willing to support Democrats, even the ones who aren’t socialist, against the committed forces of the evil opponents arrayed against them.

Okay, Che.

That would make you Batista...

Sure, Idi.

While I’ve never volunteered at a leper colony, I do ride a motorcycle though probably less frequently than I should to stay sharp.

I’m also no doctor, but I can diagnose Uno as a clear case of being one sick bastard.

He strikes me more as Mr. Bean than Batista.

Putin’s lackeys are at the heart of republican corruption.

All the trumps are just a few prime examples.

Moscow Mitch is still working on the insurrection and his corrupt party is busy teeing up another round.

The US government is finally taking aim at the engine that republicans are using to fuel their growing corruption, violent domestic terrorism parading as politics.

:o
On Monday’s broadcast of CBS’ “Late Show, comedian Jon Stewart ( and former host)said that the coronavirus pandemic was “more than likely caused by science.” And seemingly mocked claims that the virus originated naturally.

“I think we owe a great debt of gratitude to science. Science has, in many ways, helped ease the suffering of this pandemic, which was more than likely caused by science.”

What do we do? Oh, you know who we could ask, the Wuhan novel respiratory coronavirus lab. The disease is the same name as the lab. That’s just a little too weird, don’t you think? And then they ask those scientists, they’re like…’So, wait a minute, you work at the Wuhan respiratory coronavirus lab, how did this happen?’ And they’re like, ‘Uhh, a pangolin kissed a turtle?'”

“Oh my God, there’s been an outbreak of chocolatey goodness near Hershey, Pennsylvania. What do you think happened? Oh, I don’t know maybe a steam shovel mated with a cocoa bean. Or it’s the fuckin’ chocolate factory. Maybe that’s it.”

But back to Wuhan China. It’s a local specialty. And it’s the only place to find bats. You won’t find bats anywhere else. Oh, wait, Austin, Texas has thousands of them that fly out of a cave every night, every night at dusk. Is there a coronavirus — an Austin coronavirus? No, there doesn’t seem to be an Austin coronavirus. The only coronavirus we have is in Wuhan, where they have a lab called, what’s the lab called again?

ROFL!

Squirrel!

600, 000 dead after Covid hit our shores.

Red is just making the point that republican corruption was put in service of what he’s painting as a Chinese bio-terror attack for the last couple of years. By his reading, republicans and Xi in their corrupt homicidal affairs have killed 600,000 Americans and counting. The more Red explains the more it seems he’s accusing his party of treason for political gain. Red paints a very dark picture of republican corruption, something about which everyone in Texas who can’t turn on air conditioning or do laundry now must clearly acknowledge.

Republicans have earned Red’s vengeance not his vote.

Remind everyone of republican corruption this and every election.

Scour out the GOP from every office. It’s the only cure for out of control republican corruption.

The corruption part of the Covid response can be laid at the feet of Jared Kushner

It's hard to pigeonhole people who look at each issue on its own merits.

Meanwhile, another Breanna Taylor like case emerges.

Well, I think most of us look at issues on their own merits. We just view them through our own lenses.

For sure.  What I meant, not putting it clearly, was that those who are responsive to issues rather than party platforms, often don't fit categories well.  There are a lot of people running around this country who are social liberals and small govt conservatives.  Assigning a "center," and trying to station them left or right of that imaginary point becomes nearly impossible.

But, for Banks benefit, I could reduce my varied views and say, well, statistically, I land more left of center than right of center.  And that's probably driven by an overall sense that social injustice and inequity eventually ruins everything and brings civilizations down.  So, for Banks, "Indy, moderate liberal."

Bart-I'm just trying to use an existing template which polled/captured the US ideological landscape using 5 categories.

Apples to apples.

Or Elbas to Apples in this case.

And at the end of the interview he made the equally scientifically valid claim that his gray hair was the result of what happens when you expose a Jew to air. "We age like avocados."

I liked.his observation that the last words spoken by our species will be some scientist in a lab somewhere saying "Heh heh. It worked."

Stewart was great last night.

"It worked"

great line.

It wouldn't surprise me if the C-19 had its origins in a Wuhan lab and its been covered-up by the Xi govt.

That may be my remaining cold-warrior being suspicious of Chinese-Commies wanting to dominate the world through whatever means and its germ warfare went awry. I'm not sure if thats a  conservative, moderate, liberal or a Q position.

Or all of them, and sensible.

In any case, Bo would probably disagree and say you have to be a picky shopper in the Wuhan wet markets. You can get good bats or not so good ones.

But the bigger political picture is the Repubs seem to want to paper over Trump's gross incompetence and lies and complicity in the disease spreading in this country, and lay the blame elsewhere.

Odds are tiny that covid pandemic is lab originated.  Sometimes Ockham's Razor is your best companion in such matters.

The only reason it would surprise me is that there is little if any evidence pointing to that.

I think Repos think if they can blame the Chinese for COVID it would somehow make people forget what a monumental fuck up Drumpf was handling it.

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/texas-news/state-bar-investigating-texas-attorney-general-ken-paxton-ap-exclusive/2653029/

He's being investigated for having filed a frivolous lawsuit about the presidential election.

It would be hilarious if that were to be what brought him down, first.

This should be a bigger story...

I don't think so - I think it is unreal, said as puffery to try to keep Trump in his corner vs. his opponent in the GOP Primary, GP Bush.

It’s saying quiet part out loud. Republicans are anti democracy

Regardless of whether the results would have been any different for Biden had Harris County been able to send out mail-in ballot applications, Paxton’s statement about the election results seven months after the fact is revealing of how conservatives view elections and voting rights. Rather than ensuring that elections are conducted fairly, they openly support blocking access to the ballot by any means necessary, especially among voters in more Democratic leaning and nonwhite areas. Paxton, after all, is the same person who sued to disenfranchise millions of voters in battleground states following Biden’s victory in the 2020 elections.

Regardless of whether Paxton’s lawsuit against the mail-in ballot applications handed Trump his victory in Texas, it was certainly one more tool in the GOP’s voter-suppression toolbox for the state. Analyses have shown that Texas is the hardest state to vote in, with restrictions like strict voter ID laws, limits on ballot drop-off locations, and mail-in ballot eligibility requirements. Moreover, Republican-led gerrymandering has worked to further suppress Democratic voters in the state.

I’m glad she confided that to you, Luee, and that you thought fit to share it with us. She must be one of the most tolerant people in the world. Far more tolerant than I would be or can see that she would have any reason to be to be so forthcoming.

Any further insights?

Her husband-brother from another mother explained it to me. Just thought it was an interesting topic to be brought up for analysis and debate.

---As Democrats are trying to quell internal tensions over remarks Rep. Ilhan Omar made last week apparently comparing the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban, Republicans are re-upping their push to condemn Omar and her allies over comments about Israel.---

Meanwhile MTG went to the Holocaust museum and now says the Holocaust was real...

Maybe next she'll hop on over to the National Museum of African American History and Culture ( the building looks like one of those woven grass baskets sold on the streets of Charleston by descendants of West Africans), and then discuss how she'll be celebrating Juneteenth.
