Some thoughts on the shooting in Columbus:

I find it hard to believe that a teenage girl has any skills at using a knife to inflict mortal wounds in
a matter of seconds...

DJ,  I agree some of your questions are important and deserve investigation.   However,  you should not find it hard to believe anyone can inflict a mortal wound with a steak knife (or similar) in a second or two.   It happens.  And it can happen in a street fight even where skill levels are low.   Multiple arteries lie not far from the surface of a human body and can be opened up with one slash.
But how did they know it was a steak knife and not a prop knife?  Didn't see Elliot and Wagner impulsively gun down Ransom, did you? No, they waited to get all the facts!

Pastors leading black church communities are confirming the surge in the number of black families choosing private, small schools, and homeschooling for their children, and welcoming the opportunity for more involvement in K-12 education by black churches.

Pastor Cecil Blye of More Grace Ministries Church in Louisville, Kentucky, told Breitbart News he and his fellow pastors have seen a surge in homeschooling “among families in black churches in Louisville, as well as a push to start private schools and charter schools by black pastors.

Blye confirmed a recent report by the U.S. Census Bureau that showed homeschooling rates are rising among black families, in which the proportion of homeschooling in the black community increased from 3.3 percent in spring 2020 to 16.1 percent in fall 2020.

No one asks why this girl was fighting with TWO people in front of her foster home.
People dragging her family and no wants to know what the person who was contractually obligated to see to her care.

I’m not gonna convict the cop but I’m not gonna excuse him either. He did t deliberately kill her but he didn’t deliberately try not to.

Would he have let loose four rounds at a more petite lighter skinned girl?

There is dead child and so many are busy blaming her and absolving the cop and no one wants to know, “Well. How did I get here?”

We should publicly raise standards and provide curriculum for all levels of schooling. It will allow students who feel they are being miseducated by the uneducated (you didn’t homeschool did you, Ward?) no matter how depraved, or bigoted, or blinded by zealotry those instructors may be to have access to tools and plans they can use to prevent themselves from falling behind or or prey to a bullshit worldview. Access to facts and an open pathway towards learning should be considered human rights.

How many felonies can the Arizona GOP through its contractors and subcontractors commit trying to re-litigate an election their side badly lost?

So far lots with the promise of more to come.

Cant spell SNAFU without GOP.

Is the petroleum industry ready for extruded hemp to replace whole swathes of popular plastic applications starting with bags and straws?

Are fossil fuel based utilities ready for this http://www.intelligentliving.co/powerpod-compact-wind-turbine/?

Or any of this http://www.ft.com/content/e2c00d3f-ad4a-4f75-81fc-3d2382b9741c?

Access to facts and an open pathway towards learning should be considered human rights.

They are human rights. The US has chosen not to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) https://www.humanium.org/en/convention/text/

Only three U.N. countries have not ratified the CRC: Somalia, South Sudan, and…the United States.

In particular, check sections Articles 13 ( this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of the child’s choice and 28 (on education, broadly).

But setting that can of worms aside, how do you propose we raise standards when we don't have standards beyond at the individual state level? How do you propose we raise those standards when it took a pitched battle to get 10th grade standards to graduate from high school... in what is often considered to be the best pre-collegiate education in the country!

We don't have teachers prepared to teach our most able students at most levels of education in the United States. We don't have guidance counselors trained to meet their needs, either emotionally or academically.

We have the curriculum for them already. We just don't have distribution of that curriculum and seldom have folks trained in the delivery of that curriculum. Nor are our school administrators thrilled with bringing in those who do have that training. (Been there, lost that battle more than once and not just on my own behalf.)

As part of free curriculum provide accompanying free assessments and also publish what degree of achievement and resulting qualification or even further study recommendations would be indicated by various results were they to be accredited. Once that is out and subject to examination revision and more examination, we can have a fulsome debate about what accreditation should actually mean going forward.

HS level IT curriculum developed in queens for a PS program is currently being repackaged and updated for saturation level distribution in central Africa. Keep a look out for articles about industry in India and elsewhere worrying about keeping their hold on the global outsourcing market in 4 or 5 years.

Apple, Cisco, Java, and Adobe certs were all part of the bundle along with binary, basic, hardware, and OS components.
