Public school officials in Chicago canceled classes for Wednesday amid a clash with the teacher union, whose members had threatened to stay home in a bid to force instruction online during a coronavirus surge.

Union members had criticized the district response to the Omicron variant, which has pushed cases in the city to record levels, and said conditions in classrooms were unsafe. They voted on Tuesday to refuse to report to school buildings, just two days after returning from winter break.

But Mayor Lori Lightfoot said reverting to online schooling was unacceptable and unnecessary, and her administration decided to call off class altogether keeping the buildings open for emergency child care rather than return to virtual instruction.

Nobody signs up for being a home-schooler at the last minute,Ms. Lightfoot said.

So much for teachers vows their profession is all about the children.

News Item

While the establishment media reported Sunday from two confirmed sources that Manchin was resuming negotiations on Biden $1.9 trillion reconciliation package, the West Virginia senior told reporters the massive tax and spend plan was still dead.

Generalissimo Franco is also still dead.

So...Franco is like, um, your brain.

Got it.

Joe Biden just got another lifesaver thrown to him.
The first one came from Joe Manchin.
The second one came today from the evil Chicago Teachers unions who refuse to work in the classroom.

Biden, if he has a brain, should take Dr. Jill and stand tomorrow with Chicago Mayor Lightfoot and tell the teachers to fuck themselves.

If he doesnt the Chicago parents should pull their kids out of the public schools, stop paying school taxes, and find better ways to educate their kids.

And there are multitudes of better ways.

The Children should be given vouchers that they can use to attend the school of their choice, including private schools. There are schools for the Arts, and and there are Catholic schools, and there are schools for Technology and for Science and for Farming.

We need to make school available for the children, and some of the private schools are fantastic.

Biden is trying to lower the price of meat and poultry in the USA, and my advice is to support the little guys in Nevada, and in other states, and give business loans and training to people who want to go to Nevada and be a rancher. They can raise pork for San Francisco, etc, in Nevada. And business loans and training needs to be given to people who want to raise chickens and produce eggs, etc. It is all about supply and demand, if you want to bring down the price then you increase the supply by bringing in new ranchers and by expanding existing ranchers and by supporting our little ranches in Nevada, etc.

Two weeks before becoming president, Joe Biden watched the January 6 attack on television from his home in Delawate, horrified as the unspeakable images of the insurrection unfolded ::and aghast at the sitting President's unwillingness to condemn it.

-per CNN

So what dod this powerful man do?  Who did he call?  Seems like it was a 3 am situation to me - no?

TonyV,  since you brought up this supply & demand theory:  In 1975 , the US population was 215 Million and US hospitals had over 1.5 M beds.  In 2020, US pop. over 330M, the number of beds
shrank to 900K.  How do you explain that?  Are Americans so healthy the demand for beds has
Dwindled?  Please explain how this works again!

The Philippines will save us. I have a wonderful doctor from the Philippines, he is great. We can welcome people from the Philippines to come to the USA and to go to medical school here, and they can become doctors here.

Also, the Navy trains doctors in Pennsylvania, the doctors can be quickly trained and then sent wherever needed.

Then too, as we send our people to community college, some people will go on to become doctors and scientists and teachers, etc.

We also need psychiatrists, and crisis intervention specialists.

Salute,

Tony V.
