I guess you do not keep up on the news.
No, YOU do not.
You never read the WSJ editorial of April 26(probably can not) so you lied about having done so.

There are 50 different state laws on abortion.
There would be more if we had more states.

But no matter what state you and your wife ( or significant other) are in there are no restrictions to contraceptives nor denial of same sex or interracial marriage.
If SCOTUS nixes Roe it is only saying that abortion is not a Constitutionally protected right unless voters say it is, state-by-state.

For a self proclaimed expert on the Constitution you are blindingly ignorant on what a Constitutionally protected right is. Even a 10th grader should recognize the inherent contradiction and idiocy a statement like "abortion is not a Constitutionally protected right unless voters say it is, state-by-state" is.
You might want to refresh yourself on the Bill of Rights.

There were 50 state laws on sodomy... until Lawrence.  There were 50 state laws on marriage equality... until Oberkfell.  If you do not all of those rights, especially the last two, will not be under attack in the wake of overturning Roe, you are not paying attention.
How can there be? No one is arguing to overturn them. And even if they do no State would ever try to put toothpaste back into the tube.  I mean, Jesus, I thought  you said you went to Law School.

I read it. At...

https://archive.ph/2022.05.04-035244/https://www.wsj.com/articles/abortion-and-the-supreme-court-dobbs-v-jackson-mississippi-john-roberts-11651009292

It certainly foreshadows Politico's acquired Alito draft on Dobbs, but it's hard to tell what they had in terms of leaked material.  So at this point I'm nibbling popcorn.

Kirk Douglas and John Wayne had totally different political views, but they were able to work together, and they were friends, and they both loved America.

There is only one thing that we ALL need to agree on, and that is that ALL PEOPLE ARE CREATED EQUAL and we all have the same rights. And you cannot force your beliefs on other people. We have a right to our own beliefs.

Salute,

Tony V.

Alito does seem to reject both the 14th and also that the unenumerated rights which the 9th Amndt. said belong to the people  may not be disparaged.  And if those rights can be disparaged, then I don't see how any of the decisions like Loving or Obergefell are settled and secure.  But I'm not a constitutional scholar like Ward.

I just know that focusing on the practical issues, like whether this will effectively ban access for a lot of women, is kind of keeping some from noticing that Alito has suggested a mindbending departure from how the Court has understood the 9th amendment to protect unenumerated rights.  All of them, not just reproductive ones.

No, I did not lie. I have read it, to the extent it is not behind a paywall. Enough to know it accurately reflects the internal SCOTUS debate that the draft brought to light. Your lack of reading skills is well known here and your apparent belief that the content and timing of the essay are a coincidence is surprising in its naiveness.

Your right to be stupid is perhaps protected by the First Amendment but the idea that a.Constitutional right is established on a state by state basis, by voters or otherwise, demonstrates a profound stupidity as to what a Constitutional Right is. And the reference to the Bill of Rights is jist... idiotic, even from you.

Of course they are arguing Oberkfell already. You sure do not read anything not pre-approved by the RWFOM, do you.

Red feels his gaslight powers waning. Red, like his glorious brothers, the Russian conscripts, will persist to the bitter end.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/08/politics/mississippi-abortion-contraception-roe-wade-cnntv/index.html

The governor of Mississippi refuses to rule out banning contraception, noting that is not the current focus.

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/mike-braun-says-interracial-marriage-should-be-illegal-1325336/

Senator Braun (R-IN) thinks interracial marriage should be illegal.

https://archive.ph/s0qVr (NYT article)

Justices Thomas and Alito question same-sex marriage; they "appeared to urge the court on Monday to reconsider the ruling, which they said had invented a right with no basis in the text of the Constitution."

These and many others are under siege at the federal level, with proposals to make them state-by-state.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/09/politics/republican-reaction-mcconnell-supreme-court/index.html

McConnell suggested that a national ban on abortion was possible.

Other Republicans moved fast to try to dispel such a notion.

IOW, lie, deny, and obfuscate.

Part of why the GOP is pushing those points has nothing to do with believing they are just moves and everything to do with believing that way will get them the most political influence and money.

In the old days people did creative things to propel society forward and to help the poor and the needy. For instance the Monks made wine, and champagne and cheese and stuff in order to raise money to build schools to educate the children, and to build hospitals, and orphanages, etc.

And the Lottery is supposed to raise money for the schools.

People can have gambling ships offshore in many locations with the money going towards building housing in Battle Mountain, they can build custom apartments with swimming pools and tennis courts, they can build custom high density apartments like in Santorini, Greece.

People can make the wheels turn in order to make housing happen, and to do good things for society such as schools, and hospitals, etc.

Speaking of the old days,

http://m.dailykos.com/stories/2022/5/9/2096935/-BENJAMIN-FRANKLIN-DETHRONED-AS-A-FOUNDING-FATHER

Stand with Ben. Tar and feather Alito. Bury Opus Dei in the box with Scalias mouldering corpse where it belongs.
