Ward has dutifully absorbed Hershel Walkers climate speech. Now he has shared the key bullet points with us.

The deal, if it holds, is very big, several times as large as anything on climate the United States passed into law before... (backers) are already calculating that it could reduce American carbon emissions by 40 percent, compared with 2005 levels, by 2030.

David Wallace-Wells , NYT science writer
That is absurd bullshit.
In 20 years and untold billions spent on wind and solar the total US energy fueled by gas, and coal and other carbons is 82 per cent down a scant 2+%. Wind/solar contribute 2.6 per cent.
Alternate Energy does not equate to REPLACEMENT energy.
More important, reducing US Carbon Emissions to ZERO would wreck our economy and have ZERO effect on world climate . As John Kerry blurted out a year ago the Biden green agenda will have no effect on climate unless countries like China and India join, which they already declared they will not.

You have to read the whole article to understand the complex array of changes in energy production the bill fosters, Red Wart.  Pull your head out of your rectum so you can read better.

I can read fine.  If solar/wind has value it is minuscule. Texas proved that.
And if you do not  think people with brains have figured out the doomsday garbage the left has been spewing for decades just check the popularity ratings of Boris Johnson, Mario Draghi, Emmanuel Macron, the leaders in Germany.
In an act of desperation, the EU regulators recently announced that both gas and nuclear power can now be classified by investors as part of the new green taxonomy
an effective admission that the current energy crisis stems largely from an unrealistic attempt to decarbonize the grid by 2050 with wind and solar energy alone.

They stuck this in a primary election where most candidates are GOP.

But anyone can show up for this important vote.

Which doesn't even slightly address the points made.

Congratulations on yet again dodging meaning.

Hahahahahaha!

"In 2020 renewables accounted for more than 43.1% of the UK's total electricity generated, at 312 terawatt hours (TWh). This outstripped fossil fuels over the course of a year, for the first time in the nation's history."

"In 2021 renewable energy sources produced more electricity than all fossil fuels (coal, gas, oil) together and now provide 41.1 percent of German electricity demand."

"Today in Switzerland, approximately 53% of the electricity is produced by fully renewable hydroelectric power plants, 36% is produced by nuclear power plants (with an average efficiency of 25% from heat to electricity), and the remaining 11% are obtained from biofuels (<5.7%), waste incineration (<2.7%), PVs, and wind..."

We should hook up a wind farm to Ward - it might power all of the Midwest.

Texas showed us that the natural gas plants were a bigger weakness in the cold than wind turbines were.

But yes, in heat waves, wind drops - IOW, Texas needs to turn its attention to (a) solar and (b) power storage solutions, as with the method being used in the Alps at the moment.

And we need to address climate --> oddly enough what the article was suggesting.

Energy bills are skyrocketing.   Why? Because renewables can not keep up.

Of the republicans in the Senate about to face voters, it looks like only Ron Johnson of Wisconsin decided the right thing for him to do was to fuck over veterans. I wonder how veterans will react to his turn out efforts in the campaign. I am sure all the veterans and their families will get word of what he did.

https://www.newsweek.com/how-much-power-texas-renewable-coal-gas-wind-turbines-1570238#slideshow/1738339

The failure of the GOP-controlled ERCOT to properly manage their system doesn't change that overall renewables account for 25% of Texas' energy in a given year, despite their limitations.

And if they'd put more into solar, it would be both higher and more reliable for Texas.

Ward changed to discussing the national percentage because he knows he loses on the actually relevant state.

But I would also love to know where his "the total US energy fueled by gas, and coal and other carbons is 82 per cent" claim comes from. Unless he is counting nuclear power in his figure, he's off by about a third: "In 2021, about 4,116 billion kilowatthours (kWh) (or about 4.12 trillion kWh) of electricity were generated at utility-scale electricity generation facilities in the United States. About 61% of this electricity generation was from fossil fuels -- coal, natural gas, petroleum, and other gases."

Wind was 9.2%. Solar was 2.8%. Other non-hydro resources ran about 1.7%.

Nearly 14%. Include hydro and it's up over 20%. So far.

Perhaps "miniscule" got a new definition while we were not looking.

I am very happy that Pelosi went to Taiwan. I just wish that she had the courage and fortitude to go straight from Taiwan to China, the same way that Biden went straight from Israel to Saudi Arabia. That is the best way to ease tensions is to meet face to face and work together for peace. Pelosi should have went straight from Taiwan to meet with China.

Also in Asia, I love the Philippines, I hope Pelosi will visit the Philippines.

Pelosi needs to let them all know that we want peace, and we need to have global teamwork to work towards a better and more peaceful world.

We need for a high level representative of America to go talk with the Chinese in China face to face, to work together towards peace.

On the issue of Russia, Oliver Stone talked with the Russians for years. That is what we need to do, we need to find good people in Russia who we support and we need to have a relationship with our allies around the world. And we need to talk with people and have a discussion.

I had a roommate who was the daughter of a Chinese general, so I guess I was a representative of the USA to the Chinese, she loves Malibu. She is a good person, and the Chinese are not bad people, we need to have a relationship with the people in China who we support, and we need to have our ideals as our platform. Our ideals can be good human rights and democracy, and good pay for workers and labor unions, all people created equal, and good health, and world trade, and we can work together for a healthier planet, and we have the world economy, etc.

Biden, or someone high up in our government, needs to go meet with the Chinese face to face on a mission of peace to support things that we all agree on. You are not going to go to China and talk about BLM or Gay rights or any bullshit like that, that will not work in China, we need to go talk about how to work together as a team to feed starving children, and stuff we agree on. And we can work for peace.

Salute,

Tony V.

Huh?  Would you rather talk about California where the addition of solar and wind has home energy bills 8 times the USA average?  Which has led to an exodus of residents and declining state electoral votes.

Nuclear is a carbon free renewable.

The fact remains no matter what part of the world you are in we need more Natural gas and other carbon fuels, plus nuclear,  to meet growing demand.  Solar and Wind are no longer viable.
