Who on earth allowed homes, multistorey apartments etc to be built so close to the ocean along Florida's east coast?
...because it sure was a spectacularly-dumb idea.

The building there should never have been allowed.
People have lost their homes.
It's the job of govts to protect citizens from this type of disaster.
