Did Meatball get his start delivering constituent services in his stint at the Gitmo JAG or diddling his students in Georgia?

We have a problem with the police.
For sure we have a news source that does not employ editors.
A Colorado sheriff s office  has given one of its deputies a medal after he fatally shot a man who mistakenly tried to get into the wrong car while picking his brother up from a local middle school.

Did the dead man point a gun at the cop?
If not, how come the cops in Colorado are allowed to just shoot dead people who get cars mixed up?

My car's twin was parked near my car in the mall carpark.
I nearly got it mixed up with mine. Easy enough to do.

Hence the wrongful death case being brought.

Red would like to blame editors for the consequences of the bad ideas he latches onto and tries to promulgate.

The lasting memory of the Biden administration will be the attempt to turn the USA into a banana republic. Empty the treasury, take power away from the police, open the southern (and northern borders) borders wide.

News Item

The Wall Street Journal today reports

WASHINGTON The U.S. Energy Department has concluded that the Covid pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak, according to a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress.

The shift by the Energy Department, which previously was undecided on how the virus emerged, is noted in an update to a 2021 document by Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines.

The new report highlights how different parts of the intelligence community have arrived at disparate judgments about the pandemic origin. The Energy Department now joins the Federal Bureau of Investigation in saying the virus likely spread via a mishap at a Chinese laboratory. Four other agencies, along with a national intelligence panel, still judge that it was likely the result of a natural transmission, and two are undecided.

Interesting that US government agencies that specialize in epidemiology and virology, like NIH and CDC, are NOT ready to be reaching that conclusion.  And worth noting the WSJ also reported that people who read the report said the assessment was made with "low confidence," referring to the lowest of three confidence intervals in the intelligence community.  Wih little raw data, this investigation is far from over.  Trying to use one piece of low confidence conjecture to drive political wedge issues is not good science.

Maybe it will encourage Trump to stop investing in China.

What defines good science to you?
Only what you want to believe?
Also where the leak originated is not based solely on epidemiology or virology.

It will encourage Candidate Trump to continue his rage against China since from the get go he blamed Covid on a Chinese lab leak. Another credible confirmation from the US Government only bolsters his stance.
Even more so given the controversies afflicting the Biden family ties to China.

What people want to believe should never figure in scientific research.  Which is why jumping on a low data, low confidence conjecture for the sake of a wedge issue is really bad for science.

And, LOL, epidemiology and virology are fields that specifically study how a disease spreads and what its origin point might be.  Please try to consider this is an area where you are not well-informed and perhaps wait for the research to continue.  Much will depend on what data can be obtained through unofficial channels that are not blocked by Chinese communist party operatives.
