I remember Red and a few other posters here happy to see recorded sex creep and lying thief Rudy Giuliani as mayor of New York City.

It turns out he is far shittier than any depiction of Jesus ever could be.

It should be no surprise to anyone who watched any part of his career.

Squeegee man, get this nasty piece of Rudy off my windscreen before the light changes and I will give you a dollar.

It is a shame. Florida produces more mental defects than it does oranges these days. There would have been so much in their local environment for those kids to study.

I asked Rudy Giuliani to help to save San Francisco, California, the same way that he helped to save New York City years ago with the Broken Window Theory, etc. The Italians in San Francisco can be on Rudy's team, along with the Chinese from China Town in San Francisco, and the Gays love Rudy, etc, Rudy can save San Francisco. And I am sure Rudy is friends with Pope Francis.

And there can be like Hippy communes in Battle Mountain, Nevada, where people can raise pigs to sell pork and bacon to San Francisco. And they can make wine in Napa, and they can grow food in Merced, and they can grow food in Bakersfield, and they can make wine and grow food in Modesto, etc, here in California.

Then, on the issue of world peace and world trade, we can send California wine, and California cheese, etc, to China with Love From California.

And I told Vice President Harris to relax restrictions on legal hashish and cannabis for Chicago, Detroit, Oakland, Compton, Harlem, etc, this summer, and I told her to allow Chicago and Detroit to have a taste of Amsterdam this summer, and that will help with peace in the ghettos of the USA, San Bernardino, Sacramento, etc, send them all legal hashish and cannabis this summer. They can have a summer of love.

We also need to keep working to promote peace in the Middle East, and we need to continue to expand peaceful trade with the Middle East, etc.

We also need to keep working to make sure that everyone has food to eat. And we can send trucks full of food from Mexico to Kentucky, etc, and food from California to Kentucky, etc. And it is wonderful that everyone is getting fresh Winter Vegetables now from Arizona, etc, it was wise for the USA to build those dams.

I want for everyone to be blessed.

Putin needs to stop, someone needs to get through to Putin to make him stop. We need peace.

We need peace, and food, and we can have education and good health care, etc, and libraries, etc.

Salute,

Tony V.

Poverty is the father of revolution and crime. If we can have plentiful food, and if we can teach people to be happy with plentiful food, and with a good book to read, and with a nice cappuccino to drink, etc, then we can reduce crime and discontent.

So, with the problems in the Middle East, then we need to open honest trade with them, to allow them an honest way to make honest money. And that means we can import legal hashish from Pakistan, and from Afghanistan, and from Lebanon, etc, to create honest opportunities in the Middle East for them to grow pot and make Hashish, etc, to sell to the United States.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashish

Then as money is generated from selling hashish at cafes and coffee shops in Detroit, and in Chicago, and in other areas, then they can invest the profits into opening Barnes and Noble Bookstores, etc, they will have money to invest in honest shops. They need to have think tanks in the ghettos and as they generate money from hashish then they need to be able to figure out how to spend the money to improve their communities. And the cities can tax the hashish, etc, and they can use the money for new public libraries, etc.

And by opening up honest trade between the poorest people in the Middle East, with the poorest people in the inner cities in the United States, then everyone can win, even if the trade is hashish. And the inner cities in the USA can have cafes like in Amsterdam, etc, and book stores, etc.

We can have a peaceful economy happening so that people do not have to live in bitter poverty, and they can smoke hashish at the cafes in Chicago, etc.

Salute,

Tony V.

If behind a paywall, might be helpful to have a screenshot....

Brooks, not for the first time, reflects on his own privileges and blind spots as member of an educated professional class.  And, acknowledging Trump is a monster, points out his continuing attraction to those who feel educated professionals are ignoring them and blocking their social mobility.  Brooks isn't really coming clean because he has been making these points for at least a decade.  Like many moderates, he is dogged by the feeling he could have reached out more (and encouraged others in the elite to do so) to the working class and helped keep more crusty old working class folks around newsrooms.  I agree with his takedown of the modern meritocracy (you read that part of the column?).
I fully believe Red read the headline.
Then you obviously did not read my post.

It must be tough for you to see the reliable left turning to a newer narrative that concedes the weaknesses of the old one.

Hunter now says he told his Dad it was okay to recognize his out of wedlock granddaughter so as to
blunt GOP criticism!

The GOP has been beating Biden up on that issue for months for anyone paying attention which Biden easily ignored

It took Maureen Dowd in The NY Times to spotlight her sister ( a Biden lover) and her distaste for Joe ignoring his own flesh and blood to almost immediately change the elder Biden stance.

Guess you missed that.
That was in the Brooks article?

Hint: no.
Rinse and repeat

It must be tough for you to see the reliable left turning to a newer narrative that concedes the weaknesses of the old one
Or, one moderate columnist wrote a think piece. And it is not tough to read; self-questioning introspection is something smart people do, which is why you do not recognize it. Well, that and you only read the headlines of the things you post and do not even try to understand them.

Will someone explain to the troll what is wrong with only having one party in control with no counter balance? I myself would prefer a multi-party system like in most of Europe tied to different issues.

No one is making the argument for a single party, so that's a Strawman.  Several are making the case for reform in the GOP.  I have no problem with a party of principled conservatives who practice fiscal conservatism and make rational proposals for smaller government.

Huh!

I agree about Trump having a cult following. Try to overturn an election. Go to jail, does not seem to matter to his devoted followers. I can see now what happened in 20th century Europe. Scary.

Whether it is better or even possible to turn the GOP into something it has not remotely been in over 60 years than it would be to tear The whole thing down for its many documented crimes and defects and allow competition give rise to that entity which will eventually fill the space our contentious system demands as a balancing influence can still be an open question to reasonable minded people.

I currently see the GOP, the party not all of its members, most valuable as a source of carbon but I am open to being persuaded otherwise by any good evidence based argument to the contrary.

I think there is a path for moderates in the GOP like Will Hurd or Adam Kinzinger, once the Trumpist cult is disbanded.  However, if the less than grand old party keeps grinding down the rights of women, LGBTQ, schoolteachers, outdoor laborers, workers generally, ex-felons, asylum seekers, et al, then it may not be salvageable.
