The lead ESPN announcer demonstrated his ignorance tonight.

After watching the 7 runs that Chris Sale gave up, he observed, "Nobody is going to panic about 3 innings in the opener."

He clearly does not know Boston fans!

When the Mariners took a 3-2 lead, I posted in the SoSH game thread-"there is no panic like opening day panic"

Sale's ERA. 21.00.

Grady Little's fault.

Grady Little's fault.

We can hope that Sale's season goes the way Grady Little's first game pitcher did in 2002 when he got hammered.

I wouldn't bet on it, but I don't know that I would have bet on it then, either.

Another amazing start for a Red Sox pitcher.

But this time an amazing finish for the Red Sox relief staff and the hitters. Down 1-6, but winning 7-6.

A happy ending!

wake-up wins are more fun.

And from what I saw the Mariners 3rd sacker tried really hard to cooperate.

Orioles OWN the Yankees.

I would laugh so hard if after all the talk and trades and signings by the Yankees and all the talk about the Red Sox the two of them ended up at the bottom of their division.

It's not going to happen, but... it would be funny.

It would also be funny, if not quite as much so, if the Yankees, whose players have been boastful about their home run hitting, ended up behind the Dodgers for homers on the season.

Yes, well...the O's winning goes back into last season. The Dodgers are a talented team, but only one among the many teams in MLB that can bash homers.

Finally, only 158-159 games to go.

Wouldn't have mattered in the bigger picture but Xander was safe. That was one helluva throw that supposedly got him at the plate.

Ys appear a little snake-bit
