That's a ton of money.

Opt out after 3 years. No trade clause.

Could Betts get something similar? Or perhaps more to the point, if he were offered it, would he take it?

Harper gets bakers dozen with the Phillies.

13/330 no opt outs.

According to Jeff Passan

"Bryce Harper’s deal with the Philadelphia Phillies will be for $330 million, a new record for overall dollars, topping the $325 million of Giancarlo Stanton, league sources tell ESPN."

whether this is "stupid money" remains to be seen.

There are 6 games against the Nats prior to May 6 on the schedule this year.

We will see how Harper fits in Philly. I thought he was getting scared to come there, because of facing the Nats so many times, and because Philly fans as a general rule are impatient. But, if they win, he'll be very happy.

Realmuto, to me, at this juncture, is the best deal they made this winter.

 Potential line-up:
2B Cesar Hernandez
SS Jean Segura
RF Bryce Harper
1B Rhys Hoskins
C J.T. Realmuto
LF Andrew McCutchen
3B Maikel Franco
CF Odubel Herrera

Now, continue the stupidity, and go sign Keuchel.

We'll see. $330 million, no optouts, and guaranteed, according to MLB radio.

That's a commitment.

That's a good team.  NL East is a bear.

What is the over/under for the date the first D Battery is thrown at him by Phillies fans?

Philly fans in Clearwater are doing long-toss with C-size as we speak.

Nats could go get Keuchel, now. Philly, Kimbrel. Those are moves that each can afford, and would be very beneficial to each team. We will see what happens.

No whining-just a fact of which I just became aware.

The Sox open the season on the road for their first 11 games.

Still smarting from Thome going to Philly, I see.

Sad.

Is that where he went? I remember him jumping to a shitty team somewhere, but we replaced him with Pronk, so that was ok.

1948 is the last time the Cleveland Racists won the World Series.

You could look it up. That's 71 years ago. 71 long years. Why, you could live your whole live in northern Ohio or southern Michigan and never see that banner go up, or have that parade; if you call living in northern Ohio or southern Michigan a life.

Of course, it was the first openly gay baseball team to win a Series, so that's a bit of unknown history for most of you Cleveland sports buffs.

That's Larry Doby on the right, who was Billy Bean before Billy Bean.

1948

Guess that's why Chief Wahoo is truly red-faced.

A dumb-ass deal.  He turned down 300 over 10 years for this?  180 over 4 years for this??
