The argument against raising the minimum wage from no less than the great Socialist.

After taking fire for paying some members of his salaried unionized campaign staff the equivalent of the market rate of $13 an hour, Bernie Sanders had to announce “he will cut staffers’ hours so that they can effectively be paid a $15-an-hour minimum.”

Thanks Bernie.

Coming back to this...

I think Senator Sanders has just declared that he does not want to be President of the United States in 2020, whether he means to have done that or not.

The mocking he is getting for wanting a $15 minimum wage across the country, but not in his campaign, is well earned. And by his giving folks like you air in the slightest, he should be mocked!

The First Step Act. VA reform, what else?

Meanwhile, he embezzles millions each month from the public coffers while doing trillions of dollars in damage to our economy through lazy and idiotic policies not to mention the uncountable damage he does to reputation and stature every time he drags a tentacle across the beslimed screen of his smartphone or defaces some document with a sharpie.

Mitch McConnell and Mark Meadows continue to demonstrate through the abdication of their oaths of office that it will be necessary to throw the bath water out with the baby this election cycle

Illegal aliens are not American citizens. They are not trying to escape the US because of persecution but trying to get in to share the wealth.

I’d say to grow the wealth as well as share it, but clearly yes they are trying to get in here for what they see as a better life, asylum seeker, refugee, or opportunist.

We need the border administered in a way that practices our values instead of profiting off our fears.

For several hundred bucks a day we could send the asylum seekers around the world to improve conditions and combat disasters while studying English, civics, and bookkeeping. If they do well at that they can get in line to take the test. Win, win, win for 1/2 the cost. If our aid improves conditions less migrants come.

To get the cash aid, which countries like, they’ll have to take the aid workers along with the trained staff. Less cattle-car-like images from defunct Walmarts. If some wander off they’re doing it in Bangladesh or Yemen. How many Hondurans and Guatemalans would it take to cleanup Fukushima properly or spread snow over the polar regions or clean the plastic out of the ocean? This is an unlikely alternative to the current path but it has the contrasting virtue of not being intrinsically built to fail like the current policy which is valued by its orchestrators more as a political divider than as a sustainable policy.

On another note, The Democrat in 2020 is running against Deficit Don.

The deficits are many, honesty, integrity, morality, empathy, energy, knowledge, attention, dignity, honor, respect, not to mention the trillion dollar hole he punched in the hull of our economy. That a historically excessive deficit even for Deficit Don.

Deficit Don Deficit Don
We’re done with Deficit Don
Deficit Don Deficit Don
Can’t fill the hole with fear and cons
Deficit Don Deficit Don
We see where all the money’s gone
We’re done we’re done
With Deficit Don

http://www.vox.com/the-highlight/2019/7/13/20690266/seattle-minimum-wage-15-dollars

"What all sides would agree on is that the people advocating for a higher minimum wage — those among the already employed like Caroline Durocher who went on strike six years ago — were right to do so."

I doubt it. Ward, for example, would insist that the research is wrong, the model flawed, or there was some other problem that made this invalid or unuseful or something.

No he will say they are people with fringe interests equivalent to racist white nationalists who should be treated with contempt.

In fact he already has.

An argument that workers can be paid the same salary for less work is an argument against raising the minimum wage?  Some logic there.

Not to mention that a political campaign running on donations with fixed expenses not a valid parallel to the larger economy.

Thats what happens.  Businesses will have lower numbers of staff

That isn’t what happens. Numerous studies have shown that. Including the one in Seattle which started this convo which you evidently did not read or understand.

So this occurs in NO business settings at all?  Affects no small businesses in negative fashion?
